Kiss goodbye to the old Louis The Child. Long known for their bubbly dance-pop anthems, like the Taylor Swift-approved “It’s Strange,” the duo have now mutated into a full-blown rave act. It’s like when the cuddly Minions transformed into the evil, fang-dripping purple monstrosities in Despicable Me. But unlike the family-friendly comedy, there’s nothing childish about Louis The Child’s new direction. Louis The Child perform at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Friday, August 27th, 2021. Jason Siegel After the duo’s recent headlining performance at Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre, it’s clear the style that longtime fans are used to is gone, eighty-sixed in favor of one that foams at its mouth with rave energy. Earlier in the week, we shared the news of a new ASCAP recording that listed Skrillex on a track with Future, JAY-Z, Beyoncé, and DJ Khaled. Now, another unreleased collab has been revealed, and this time it’s with a dance act. At last weekend’s Chandler, Arizona stop on their “Euphoria” tour, Louis The Child debuted an unreleased track they produced with Skrillex. A fan who attended the show posted the clip online, which was eventually circulated far and wide on social media. The generous preview begins with the duo announcing that the song has never been played before. Luckily, the clip was filmed in the front row and is rather high-quality for a live-recorded video. Fans are able to hear an unidentified vocalist deliver some catchy lines before a b...

Ahead of this holiday weekend, we welcome you back with open arms as we get ready to light up the night with pretty patriotic explosions. Aside from including a stellar group of artists who are on the brink, this week’s roundup captures the lively spirit of the summer heat. With colorful sound textures, soulful sonic grooves, and experiential instrumentation/production, these artists master the art of what it is to be freeform and true to their versatile identity. Genreless has become the new genre and this collection of musical wizards are here to consciously (or unconsciously) dominate the realm. This week’s highlights include Minneapolis based rhythmic songwriter, Miloe who brings out his signature sound in “Solo,” dreamy producer/multi-instrumentalist Olan, who hypnotizes and gets vuln...
When it comes to glow-ups, many of us have the luxury of burying all evidence of our braces and bowl cuts deep in the depths of old family albums. But for the celebrities, it’s inevitable for photos from the vault to pop up now and then. So what did some of our favorite electronic artists look like before they were main stage headliners? From childhood portraits to pre-fame head-shots, we’ve gone digging for mementos from the pasts of Alison Wonderland, Flume, RL Grime, and other dance music superstars. Complete with swooping side bangs, toothy smiles and early 2010s rave attire, they remind us that not too long ago, these artists were just like us. Let’s take a trip back in time. Now in the thick of a new sonic era, Louis The Child has teamed up with Goth Babe for an infectiously sunny single that blends surf rock, garage rock and electronica. Out June 18th, “Encinitas” sees the duo drift from the pop-infused themes of their debut album, Here For Now, and enter a chapter with roots in the big, bouncy energy of early 2010s dance music. Even more, it sees the artists listed as a featured contributor—a rarity in their career—speaking to the in-demand influence of their sound. Primed for a summer road trip on California’s Pacific Coast Highway, “Encinitas” moves seamlessly between bubbly synth lines, grungy interplays of bass and percussion, and Goth Babe’s dreamy vocals. It’s packed with personality, pulling at once...

Electronic music held a prominent footprint at the event with tracks from Louis The Child and Foster The People, BAYNK, and Party Favor all landing in the tech giant’s mix. While it won’t look quite the same due to a vastly reduced capacity, Red Rocks Amphitheatre is leading the charge of the return of music festival season. And while the iconic venue’s 80th anniversary summer season will operate at a limited capacity of 2,500—around 25% of its normal volume—the slash of its size had no effect on its typically jaw-dropping performance schedule. From a performance by legendary rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd to a Kidz Bop World Tour concert, there are all kinds of shows slated for Red Rocks this year. It’s the electronic music shows, however, that stand out above the rest. ZHU, Zeds Dead, Alison Wonderland, and many more are set to return to Red Rocks this year.
