What a moment for Moore Kismet, who has announced their debut headlining show in their hometown of Los Angeles. The young electronic music prodigy, who was named to EDM.com‘s Class of 2021, today revealed the upcoming concert, “UNIVERSE: A CELEBRATION OF GROWTH.” Scheduled for December 3rd at the famed Roxy Theatre, the show takes its name from Kismet’s scintillating debut album, UNIVERSE, a Grammy dark horse released back in June. Fans of Kismet can expect a “completely unparalleled experience” and a “myriad of special surprises,” according to the genre-bending unicorn. And it’s all going down on their 18th birthday. “ever since I started Moore Kismet, I always dreamed of taking this beautifully weird music I make to shows w...
Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival in Los Angeles is skipping 2022, his manager Chris Clancy tells Billboard, and is planning to bring the festival back next year. “It’s really not that deep,” says Clancy of the Goldenvoice-produced event. “Tyler toured all year and was busy with a number of projects. Reading the tea leaves and what’s happening with festivals coming out of the pandemic, we thought it would be best to come back next year.” This has been an unusual year for festivals, as large-scale events largely returned from the pandemic. The festival space was more crowded and oversaturated in 2022 than many expected as promoters created new events to take advantage of an uptick in ticket buying and fan demand at the beginning of the year for events like Coachella and Outside L...
Fred again.. is inescapable these days. But unlike other names hyped ad nauseam into oblivion this year, his is one you’d be smart to emotionally invest in. For some reason, musicians are still expected to masquerade as doppelgängers of themselves—cringey caricatures sharing manufactured moments through the vacuous engines of TikTok. Content culture is the music industry’s newest and most vicious plague, and it corrodes the mental health of its most authentic artists. But as social media continues to dig its crooked claws into the sincerity of musicians, Fred again.. is fracturing its nefarious nature by being his most genuine self. Fred again.. performs live at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2022. Julian Bajsel There’s a sad sense of attrition in the wearisome ...

Whyte Fang is ready to “get weird” with her debut in the City of Angels. The brainchild of Alison Wonderland was revived late last year with “TIDES,” a wonky single infused with distorted trap sound design. Teaming up with Brownies & Lemonade around the same time, Whyte Fang previewed what was to come with a mind-bending live set. After a break in the action, the Whyte Fang revival picked up considerably more steam this week. First, Wonderland previewed unreleased Whyte Fang music and blew the crowd away with a taste of the spellbinding show production and visuals backing the effort. Immediately after came the announcement of Whyte Fang’s headlining debut. For longtime fans of the trap and bass star, the location could not be more ideal: Los An...
In virtual reality, anything is possible—even a live performance from electronic music’s most legendary robot duo. Sadly, fans around the world were robbed of the opportunity to ever experience Random Access Memories in a live setting given Daft Punk‘s shocking breakup in 2021. However, in Los Angeles’ Wisdome, a sprawling, 12,000-square foot VR venue, there’s an opportunity to experience what alternatively could have been if history played out differently. “CONTACT” is a special Daft Punk tribute unlike any other. The show marks an opportunity to experience a unique performance played within a 3D LED cube stage, similar to the iconic pyramid the duo famously played in during their Alive 2007 tour. The 360° show is complete with immersive visua...

Is it even Halloween without RL Grime? The trap music star’s eerie-sistible Halloween mix series has become a staple of his storied career, annually enrapturing fans with a curated tape of spellbinding bangers and unreleased music from his venerated Sable Valley label. Grime has now announced “Halloween: Dead Space,” a concert where fans can experience the mix live. “Halloween: Dead Space” marks the second time Grime will debut his annual mix in a live setting after last year’s spine-chilling inaugural edition, which dazzled fans with a live visual spectacle complete with a zombie outbreak. He’ll now give ’em pumpkin to talk about with the show’s hotly anticipated return, scheduled for October 27th at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. ...
Following their wildly successful REALM Brooklyn Mirage show in New York this May, Gorgon City took over the Shrine in L.A. and put on another spectacular performance July 8th. Just like the Brooklyn Mirage show, this one traded the dark club interior for an open air experience outside of the Shrine Expo Hall. Combined with a stellar lineup of opening acts, this made “REALM” feel more like a small festival than a standard weekend concert. The stage featured towering pyrotechnic displays that lit up the night sky, jetted pillars of smoke and rhythmic lights beaming off the crowd below. Local Los Angeles staple Matt Black and surging house music artist Nala, the latter of whom is featured on many a festival lineup this year, respectively opened the night and made the crowd ...
