Group tasks multinational oil companies on social responsibility

Oil/Gas Multinational Companies operating in Eastern Obolo local government area of Akwa-Ibom state have been urged to stand up to their Corporate Social Responsibility to host communities. Mr Iroigak Ikaan, a former Commissioner for Lands and Housing in the state, made the call during a stakeholders meeting organised by Utono Obolo in Uyo the state capital. Utono Obolo is a non-political pressure group with membership drawn from Andoni and Eastern Obolo local government areas of Rivers and Akwa Ibom states. Kogi government mourns deceased Attah Igala

Kogi Government has described the death of Attah Igala, Michael Ameh Oboni, as shocking and a colossal loss to the state and Nigeria. Herders in Ebonyi now to carry identity cards – deputy governor

The Ebonyi Government on Tuesday directed that all the herders in the state should henceforth carry identity cards to help in identifying them in the event of any crime. Two coronavirus patients discharged in Kwara

Two patients who tested negative for the coronavirus pandemic were discharged in Kwara on Friday. The state has not recorded any new case of the virus in the last 18 hours. Rafiu Ajakaye, the Spokesman for the Technical Committee on COVID-19, said these in Ilorin on Saturday. He said total cases of the virus in Kwara stood at 888 of which 649 patients had been discharged, leaving the state with 216 active cases. According to him, 23 deaths have so far been recorded, while 2,990 tested negative for the virus out of the 3, 982 tests carried out with 104 tests pending. Ajakaye said the state ministry of health indicated that the pandemic had spread to 10 out of the 16 local government areas in Kwara. Kano State Government says it has distributed 500 improved stoves and Liquefied Natural Gas (LPG) cylinders to encourage development of alternative sources of energy. Abdulhamid Bala, Director, Ecology and Forestry in the state’s Ministry of Environment, disclosed this in an interview to the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Kano. Bauchi upgrades child birth units, renovates health centres

The Bauchi government says it has renovated and upgraded 26 existing childbirth spacing units in seven local government areas in the state, in its efforts at ensuring safe child delivery. Dr Rilwanu Mohammed, the Executive Chairman of the State Primary Healthcare Developmental Agency, made this known in an interview with newsmen in Bauchi on Wednesday. He said that the benefiting birth units were located in Bauchi, Toro, Jama’are, Ningi, Zaki, Katagum and Shira local government areas.
