Lizzo Credits Twerking with Helping Her Totally Embrace Her Body

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: NDZ/Star Max / Getty Lizzo is opening up about her road to loving herself unconditionally, revealing that twerking has helped her learn to embrace her “least favorite” body part. Last week during a recently released  TED Talk, the three-time Grammy Award winner delved into the history of twerking and explained how the dance move helped her embrace her butt, a part she revealed was her “least favorite body part.” “I used to think that only asses like J.Lo’s or Beyoncé’s could be famous,” Lizzo said. “I always felt like my body type wasn’t the right one or the desirable one growing up because I grew up in an era where having a big ass wasn’t mainstream.” Related Stories In regards to the support she’s received over accidentally becoming the face for th...

Lizzo Says She Spoke To Drake About Her Line on “Rumors”

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Victoria McGraw @victoriasaidit / Radio 1 Digital With the release of her latest single, “Rumors,” Lizzo got much hate from “fans” who fat shamed her and felt that she was pandering to white audiences for some reason. While she was getting hate for the single, actual fans noticed some racy lyrics involving the 6 God in which she said “No, I ain’t f*ck Drake yet.” Yet?! Lizzo’s confidence is really high isn’t it? What did Drake think about Lizzo not having sexed him up “yet”? Well, Page Six got an answer when they caught up with the “Rumors” artist and bluntly asked her what was the deal behind the rhyme. “Lizzo then joked, “OK, so the original line was, ‘No, I ain’t f–k Niall yet.’ The label said it was a little bit provocative. So I changed it to Dr...

Facebook Scrubbing Lizzo’s Posts of Hateful Messages After Being Bullied Following Song Release

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: CBS Photo Archive / Getty Trolling Lizzo on Facebook will no longer fly. Spotted on the Huffington Post, Facebook is actively deleting all hateful comments spotted on Lizzo’s social media accounts. The social media company’s decision to take such action comes after Lizzo tearfully shared in an emotional video she was receiving hateful comments about her weight, race, and more following the release of her new single “Rumors” featuring Cardi B. In the video, while shedding tears, Lizzo said, “People who have something mean to say about you — and for the most part, it doesn’t hurt my feelings. I don’t care. I just think when I’m working this hard, my tolerance gets lower. My patience is lower. I’m more sensitive, and it gets to me.” Lizzo, who is very active...

Cardi B Claps Back At Online Negativity Directed At Lizzo

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz83 It’s an unfortunate fact that the web is a haven for the most vile and vicious streams of negativity, and that the targets are often celebrities. A prime example of that occurred over the weekend after Lizzo dropped her latest single, “Rumors”. But her friend and collaborator on the track, Cardi B was having none of it. After a fan of hers shared a clip from the now-deleted Instagram Live video where Lizzo tearfully spoke about how the negativity was impacting her, Cardi B had words for the haters via her Twitter account: “When you stand up for yourself they claim your problematic & sensitive,” she wrote. “When you don’t they tear you apart until you crying like this. Whether you skinny, big, plastic, they going to al...

El-P, Charli XCX, Lizzo and More Are in the Halloween Spirit

It really is cruel that Halloween is on a Saturday this year — between the pandemic and looming election, it’s hard to let loose and celebrate much of anything right now — but that doesn’t mean you can’t dress up, even if your costume party is hosted by Zoom. Run The Jewels’ El-P and his wife Emily Panic paid tribute to The Sopranos by dressing up as Tony and Carmela Soprano. Charli XCX got ghoulish with red latex and a creepy monster sleeve. Halsey, the queen of Halloween, went all out on a Corpse Bride costume, while YUNGBLUD dressed up in two different costumes (Wednesday Addams and Beetlejuice). But Lizzo might have taken the cake this year — she dressed up as 2020’s hero, the fly that landed on Mike Pence’s head during the vice presidential debate. See all these and more cos...

Lizzo Wants To Normalize Her Full Figure with “Body Normative” Movement

Source: PYMCA / Getty Lizzo is thicker than a bowl of cold grits and she’s proud of it.  That’s why she’s telling the world to do away with promoting “body positivity” and to embrace her “body normative” movement instead.  In an interview with Vogue, the singer explained how mainstream the “body positivity” movement has become not only white-washed but synonymous with slender body types.  “It’s commercialized. Now, you look at the hashtag ‘body positive,’ and you see smaller-framed girls, curvier girls. Lotta white girls. And I feel no ways about that, because inclusivity is what my message is always about. I’m glad that this conversation is being included in the mainstream narrative.” So, how does this impact full-figured women? It doesn’t, at least not in a positive way.&n...
