David Guetta Previews New Year’s Eve Virtual Concert from Paris’ Legendary Louvre Museum

When it comes to the best DJ performances of 2020, electronic music artists have been quite creative in their choice of locations throughout the COVID-19 age. Charlotte de Witte DJed at a medieval Belgian castle. RÜFÜS DU SOL performed live at the fabled Joshua Tree National Park. Kaskade spun at the Grand Canyon. However, David Guetta just dunked on them all. The Grammy Award-winning dance music producer recently announced the third edition of his “United At Home” concert series, a string of virtual shows that raise funds for COVID-10 relief. However, when he shared the news of the momentous New Year’s Eve show in Paris, he refrained from revealing its location until now. Many of Guetta’s fans speculated that an Eiffel Tower performanc...

First Americans vaccinated as U.S. death toll passes 300,000

An intensive care unit nurse became the first person in the United States to receive the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, calling it a sign that “healing is coming,” as the U.S. coronavirus death toll crossed a staggering 300,000 lives lost. Sandra Lindsay, who has treated some of the sickest COVID-19 patients for months, was given the vaccine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in the New York City borough of Queens, an early epicenter of the country’s COVID-19 outbreak, receiving applause on a livestream with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. “It didn’t feel any different from taking any other vaccine,” Lindsay said. “I feel hopeful today, relieved. I feel like healing is coming. I hope this marks the beginning of the end of a very painful time in our history. “I want to instil...

Concert Review: Primus Pull Out Deep Cuts for Livestream Show

Setting the Stage: Ever since their inception, Primus have always been a “live band.” Sure, there’s no denying that such studio offerings as Frizzle Fry, Sailing the Seas of Cheese, and Pork Soda are ‘90s quirk-rock classics … but long-time fans can verify that the trio – singer/bassist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry LaLonde, and drummer Tim Alexander – are best experienced in concert, as they most certainly take their songs to the next level onstage. So, with a proposed 2020 tour (that was to see the trio pay tribute to Rush’s 1977 prog classic A Farewell to Kings), scrapped due to COVID shutting down tours, it was announced that Primus’ lone show of the year – titled “Alive From Pachyderm Station” – would be streamed on December 11th, filmed at Claypool’s winery, Claypool Cellars, in Seba...

Carl Cox to Perform on New Streaming Series to Aid Ibiza Food Bank

Known globally as the premier destination for electronic music fans, performers, and clubgoers, the island of Ibiza has seen more than its share of legendary electronic music performers over the years. However, as with many other areas worldwide, the COVID-19 pandemic has left many of Ibiza’s residents without jobs and income for the foreseeable future. In light of that fact, event organizer Universe has created the Ibiza Soul Food series. Ibiza Soul Food is a series of livestreamed DJ sets that aim to raise financial aid for those in need on the White Isle. Among the new streaming initiative’s performers is legendary DJ and techno producer Carl Cox, who is a frequent Ibiza visitor. “Ibiza has been a 2nd home to me for many years,” said Cox. R...

Patti Smith Announces Birthday Livestream Performance

For years, Patti Smith has celebrated her birthday by playing an intimate gig with friends in New York. Thankfully, the punk rock pioneer is carrying on the tradition this year — albeit in the form of a livestream. On December 30th, Smith will perform with her band for the first time in 2020. Their show will be streamed by Veeps, which Smith recently used to broadcast a solo set of hers on Black Friday. “I just thought it would be nice to uphold that tradition in a certain way because it’s always a joyful moment,” Smith said in an interview with Rolling Stone. “I love birthdays because we’re born and life is the greatest thing we have, I just thought it would be a nice thing to share with everybody.” Smith sees the one-off show as something of a makeup for the world tour she...
