Gary Neville sends Super League message to Leeds players ahead of Liverpool clash

Leeds United host Liverpool this evening and fans will be looking forward to another cracker following the 4-3 thriller both teams played out on the first day of the campaign. While the Elland Road outfit have more than just bragging rights to play for, same cannot be said of the Reds. Liverpool risk missing out on a top-four finish should they fail to win at Leeds, and while that should deal a huge blow on their chances of playing Champions League football next term, the Reds will not be utterly concerned. The Anfield giants have joined five other Premier League clubs to form the European Super League alongside the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan, pulling out of the UEFA competitions. Manchester United legend Gary Neville is seething as...

In an open letter to European Club Association (ECA) chairman Andrea Agnelli, 17 fans’ groups from 14 clubs blasted the idea. “Your plans to restructure the Champions League by increasing the number of games, introducing qualification based on past achievements, and monopolising commercial rights present a serious threat to the entire game,” it read (via thefsa.org.uk). Takumi Minamino has explained why he left Liverpool on loan in January, with the Japan international set for a big decision this summer. As a result, Minamino joined Southampton on loan in January and has flourished under Ralph Hasenhuttl, scoring two goals in six games. The Blues had the better of the half chances through Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic but seemed content with a stalemate that was broken four minutes into added time when Taremi struck to give Cheslea a late scare.
