Former Roma boss, online fan clash over Mo Salah sale

Four years after Mohammed Salah was sold to Liverpool for £35m a die-hard Roma fan has hauled pebbles at the decision describing it as undue emphasis on money over quality. Former Roma president James Pallotta locked horn with a fan who from all indication was ready to throw blows should the need arise. Salah has starred for Liverpool ever since leaving Roma in 2017 for £35m. Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Governor of his home state, Ogun, Prince Dapo Abiodun, at the Oke-Mosan Secretariat. UAE waives extra coronavirus test for Nigerians

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has removed the rapid antigen test requirement for Nigerians travellers. This is according to a March 24 letter from the protocol department of the UAE ministry of foreign affairs seen by newsmen. The federal government had suspended Emirates Airlines after it announced an additional test requirement for Nigerian travellers in addition to the PCR test mandated by the presidential task force on COVID-19 (PTF). Agreeing to remove the test requirement, the UAE government demanded that the number of passengers on inbound flights to the UAE must not exceed 200 for two weeks. Polls open in Congo as main opposition party boycotts election

Polls have opened in the Republic of Congo’s presidential election that is boycotted by the main opposition party and attacked by critics as tilted toward veteran leader Denis Sassou Nguesso. Voting centres opened at 07:00 (06:00 GMT) and will close at 17:00 (16:00 GMT). More than 2.5 million voters have registered to take part in the election which Nguesso, 77, is widely expected to win against six contenders. The list of contenders is led by economist and 2016 presidential runner-up Guy-Brice Parfait Kolelas, who was hospitalised on Saturday. Imo Assembly receives list of commissioner nominees

The Imo House of Assembly on Tuesday received a list of four nominees for ratification of their appointment as commissioners in the state Executive Council. The nomimees are Doris Uzoka, Bartholomew Okorochukwu, Boniface Nwogu and Uche Ohia. The Speaker, Paul Emeziem (APC-Onuimo), during plenary, read the names from a letter sent to the House by Governor Hope Uzodimma. Nigeria threatens to ban flights from UAE, Netherlands

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has threatened to ban flights from the UAE and The Netherlands as a reciprocal action. The task force said the Ministry of Aviation and its relevant agencies have been mandated to take the necessary reciprocal measures as may be permissible under the laws and other international obligations expected to be discharged against Emirates airlines operating from the UAE and other airlines from The Netherlands. Governors reach decisions on coronavirus vaccine roll-out

The Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) has asked the federal government to take the necessary steps to support logistics and inoculation activities in states to ensure a smooth vaccine roll-out exercise across the country.
