Econet Teams Up with Alphabet to Expand Network Connectivity in Africa

Econet has teamed up with X’s Project Taara – Alphabet’s moonshot factory (formerly known as Google [x]) – to expand and enhance affordable, high-speed connectivity to communities across Sub-Saharan Africa. This makes it the first roll-out of Taara’s wireless optical communication technology in Africa. Taara’s links offer fibre-like speed internet access in areas where it’s not economically viable, or too difficult to install fibre, for example, over rivers or in areas where it is unsafe to dig trenches for cables. Liquid Telecoms Expands Reach to Rural Communities in Malawi

Pan-African telecoms company, Liquid Telecom has announced that it will provide VSAT connectivity services to mbora, a pioneering new social enterprise in Malawi that is providing free connectivity to people living and working in rural areas through community hubs. Each hub is serviced with broadband speeds of up to 36mbps, which in turn enables mbora and its content partners to digitally deliver their services to mbora users over a free internet connection. Intelsat and Liquid Telecom Agree to Extend Partnership

Intelsat and Liquid Telecom have announced the extension of their partnership agreement. The companies have collaborated since 2016 to bring broadband and other critical communications services to people throughout Eastern, Central and Southern Africa.
