Lindsey Buckingham, Johnny Marr Join The Killers in Los Angeles

The Killers‘ current North American tour has found the band frequently performing with their opening act, former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, and last night (Aug. 27) at Los Angeles’ Banc of California Stadium, they were joined by another legendary rocker. On-again/off-again Fleetwood Mac member Lindsey Buckingham took the stage during the encore to guest on “Caution” from The Killers’ 2020 album Imploding The Mirage and stuck around for a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s classic “Go Your Own Way.” Buckingham and Marr then both joined The Killers for a show-closing “Mr. Brightside.” Earlier in the set, Marr lent a hand on a cover of The Smiths’ “This Charming Man”; the musicians have previously performed the latter band’s “Stop Me if You Think You’ve Heard This One Before” and “There Is a Light T...

Meet the Songwriters Behind the Best Song on Lindsey Buckingham’s New Album

When Lindsey Buckingham released his self-titled record in September, the media frequently lauded “Swan Song,” the fourth track, as a standout tune. What’s more, Buckingham himself told Newsweek that it’s one of his two favorite songs on the new record. But when Blinker the Star founder/frontman/songwriter and record producer Jordon Zadorozny (whose credits include producing Chris Cornell and a songwriting credit on Hole’s Celebrity Skin), first heard “Swan Song,” he felt like he was starring in an episode of The Twilight Zone. “My thought was, ‘How do I know this song, and why do I suspect that I have sung it before?’” says Zadorozny over the phone from his home in Pembroke, Ontario, Canada. Zadorozny was driving around running errands on a Saturday afternoon when he began streaming Bucki...

Watch Halsey Perform ‘Darling’ With Lindsey Buckingham on SNL

Halsey made their fourth appearance as Saturday Night Live‘s musical guest last night, where they performed two songs off their latest album If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. The pop star sang their latest single “I am not a woman, I’m a god” for their first selection, donning a futuristic suit on a sci-fi set thought up by filmmaker Michel Gondry. Halsey was joined by Lindsey Buckingham for their second song, “Darling.” (The legendary guitarist is also featured on the recorded version of the track.) The aesthetic of that performance couldn’t be more different from the former. Both musicians stood regally behind their microphones, with Halsey channeling Buckingham’s former bandmate Stevie Nicks’ haunting look. SPIN called Halsey’s Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross-produced fourth album “an i...

Lindsey Buckingham Hops on the ‘Dreams’ TikTok Challenge

This one felt inevitable. After his former bandmates Mick Fleetwood and Stevie Nicks joined TikTok following Nathan Apodaca’s viral “Dreams” moment, Lindsey Buckingham got in on the action. In a video posted on his newly-created account, Buckingham shared his interpretation of the challenge, noting it was shot over the weekend by his girls. The 15-second clip sees the ex-Fleetwood Mac guitarist on a horse sipping Ocean Spray from a bottle. See it below (and hope that it’s the end of this challenge). The “Dreams” moment turned Apodaca into a star and saw interest in Fleetwood Mac surge. The band’s streaming totals (especially for Rumours) have gone up by thousands of percentage points, leading to Fleetwood speaking with and thanking Apodaca on a BBC News broadcast. “It’s such a celebra...
