The Gunners are planning an overhaul of their midfield options with Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi looking set to leave. They are in advanced negotiations to sign Anderlecht’s Albert Sambi Lokonga, but it is reported that they are eyeing more than one midfielder. It is now revealed that the club have made contact with Sanchez’s intermediaries to find out whether the Portuguese is available in the transfer market. Lille recently won the Ligue 1 title, but it is reported that they could sell Sanchez for a profit on the €25 million spent in 2019. Liverpool are also keeping tabs on the 29-cap international as they line up a replacement for the r...
Serie A club Napoli are planning to add one more year to Victor Osimhen’s contract and also insert a release clause. The Nigeria international signed a contract until 2024 worth €4.5M per season when he joined from Ligue 1 outfit Lille last summer. According to Corrmezzogiorno, the Partenopei are determined to extend the forward’s contact, whilst also inserting a release clause. Osimhen scored 10 goals in 24 league appearances for Napoli in the 2020/21 campaign. The 22-year-old missed over two months of action after sustaining a shoulder injury while on international duty with Nigeria. While recovering from the injury , the former Wolfsburg striker was authorized to spend time in Nigeria and tested positive for Covid-19 upon his return to Naples. The positive test, together with his should...
It’s official – Sergio Ramos will no longer play for Real Madrid, and the club captain will say his final goodbye later today. Purchased for €27 million in 2005 from Sevilla at just 19-years-old, Ramos has been at Madrid for 16 seasons – a period that has seen him play 671 games, score 101 goals, win five La Liga titles and four European Cups. At 35, he had been looking for a contract extension of two years and no salary deduction. The club had been asking all its players to accept a 10% salary reduction in light of the pandemic and had been unwilling to offer more than a year on the contract. As late as a week ago, sources suggested that Ramos was willing to accept a one-year contract extension and even possibly a lower salary, but perhaps not to the level of what Madrid were offering. Wh...
Ligue 1 has signed off on a new broadcasting rights deal for the next three years. The league had been plunged into an economic crisis following the collapse of the previous deal with Spanish broadcasting company MediaPro. The company had promised to pay €3.25 billion for the broadcasting rights to the French league for four years but pulled out not long after having paid under 10% of what they owed. Previous owners Canal Plus and beIN SPORTS have both been in talks to repurchase the TV rights, while giants Amazon have also been looking to strike a deal with the LFP. Today, the LFP chose between two different broadcasting packages, with all three companies securing the rights to French football. The new deal (Canal Plus, Amazon, BeIN Sports) Amazon pay €250m per year for the rights to show...
Everton are currently in discussions with Christophe Galtier to become their next manager, according to BeFoot. The Toffees have been without a manager after Carlo Ancelotti left them in order to take charge of Real Madrid for a second stint. Galtier will be in high demand after sensationally guiding Lille to the Ligue 1 title last season and winning the Ligue 1 manager of the season award. The report did add that Galtier has reached an agreement to take charge of French club Nice though this has not deterred Everton. One could argue that Everton will be a better next career step for Galtier rather than Nice. The latter placed ninth in the French top-flight last season and even if the 54-year-old agrees to join them, he will have to embark on a long-term project to develop the outfit into ...

The latest CIES Football Observatory report has been released, revealing the highest estimated transfer values of players in Europe’s top five leagues. The list is dominated by English players, with three Englishmen topping the charts and another four inside the top 20. The Premier League is also very heavily represented, with 12 players inside the top 20 and 43 in the top 100. There are 21 from La Liga, 15 from the Bundesliga, 14 from Serie A, and seven from Ligue 1. Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe ranks 12th, much lower than many would expect. The Frenchman has been given a value of €118.3 million. This will be largely because he has a year left on his current contract, but he could probably command a higher fee this summer. Harry Kane is another who is lower down than expected, w...
