When done right, a city festival offers a unique experience that speaks to the heart of its urban surroundings. In the case of Life is Beautiful, much of this exists solely in its location within Las Vegas — rather than add to the glitz and fanfare of the Las Vegas strip, the festival takes place just a few miles north in downtown Vegas, sectioning off the famous Fremont Street and over 18 square blocks of Vegas’ classic, original townsite. “I don’t think any festival in the country takes over 18 square city blocks,” says Allen Scott from Another Planet Entertainment, the company that assists in booking Life is Beautiful each year. He’s joined by Craig Nyman, the head of music and programming for Life is Beautiful Festival, who is similarly proud of the way the festival has transformed alo...

After forging a decade of memories, Life Is Beautiful music festival will begin its next chapter with new direction and ownership. Rolling Stone has announced the acquisition of a majority stake in the downtown Las Vegas-based festival. Founded in 2013 by the late Tony Hsieh, former CEO of Zappos, Life Is Beautiful has been a boon to downtown Las Vegas. Most recently, the festival attracted over 170,000 attendees in 2021 with headliners such as Billie Eilish, Green Day, and Tame Impala. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the event has netted $350 million in aggregate revenue since its founding. Rolling Stone and their parent company, Penske Media Corporation, reportedly have plans to develop a broader market footprint for Life Is Beautiful, though the festival property’s fl...
Las Vegas music festival Life Is Beautiful set the internet ablaze this week after suggesting the “aliens” behind the AREA21 duo are landing in Sin City for their first-ever live performance. Posting a visual of a neon prism, Life Is Beautiful told fans “they’ve landed and this isn’t the only clue they’ve left.” The inclusion of the prism is significant given AREA21’s recurring use of the symbol in all of their recent cover art. The festival’s flyer also features a holding spot near the top for what will be a major special guest, which lends credence to the suggestion that Martin Garrix and Maejor‘s collaborative alias could be the act to fit the bill. Life Is Beautiful kicked off yesterday, September 17th, so...
Did you hear that? That was the sound of the collective gasp from the EDM community after Dillon Francis teased a new dream collab with ILLENIUM. Francis took to Twitter yesterday, March 10th, to share a screenshot of a text message conversation with ILLENIUM. While brief, it is far from cryptic, as Francis wrote that the two have had a collaboration in the works for some time and now is the time to finish it with Las Vegas’ Life Is Beautiful music festival on the horizon. “Time to Finish our collab for life is beautiful!” he texted, to which ILLENIUM responded with a simple yet emphatic confirmation. Check out the tweet below. The organizers of Life Is Beautiful shared the official lineup for the fest’s 2021 edition yesterday, announcing a slew of electro...

Back in April, fans were disappointed to hear that Life Is Beautiful would be canceling their 2020 outing due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Like many other festivals around the world, the organizers are optimistically looking at 2021 for the return of the Vegas party. Instead of changing seasons like some in the past have, Life is Beautiful will stick to their September schedule and simply be pushed back one year. Announced just one day before the 2020 edition was supposed to take place, organizers informed fans about the beloved festival’s return across their social media accounts. There’s no word on who will take the stage a year from now, but previous years have featured performances from Zedd, Louis The Child, ODESZA, Kaskade, NERVO, DJ Snake, RL Grime, and ma...
