On Wednesday night’s episode (Jan. 19) of The Daily Show, guest host Leslie Jones opened up with the customary monologue detailing current events. Rhys Darby is More Patchy Than Blackbeard in Our Flag Means Death Teaser: Watch

Pirates were historically pretty hardcore guys — toughness is usually required for a job that entails robbing people at sea with hooks for hands. Such is not the case, however, for Stede Bonnet (Rhys Darby), the aristocrat who leaves behind a life of luxury to sail with the infamous Edward Teach, or Blackbeard (Taika Waititi), in Our Flag Means Death. Darby plays a pretty harmless marauder in the upcoming HBO Max series, which just got its first teaser trailer. Watch the clip below. “Every pirate captain captains pirates differently,” Darby says as Bonnet in the teaser. “Traditionally, piracy is a culture of abuse. And my thought is, why can’t one be a gentleman and a pirate?” Bonnet goes on to lead his crew — “a brigade of imbeciles,” as one raider calls them — through some sillier t...

Coming 2 America Is Not 2 Bad: Review

The Pitch: The king has returned! Eddie Murphy is back to check in on his 1988 invention Akeem, the now-ruler of the fictional African nation of Zamunda. As established in Coming to America, Zamunda is both a lavish and antiquated locale: not a lot of TVs, multitudes of rituals and ceremonies, beautiful interior design that would make a real estate mogul blush, all affectionately anachronistic. Akeem’s content with his three daughters and his loving queen Lisa (Shari Headley) by his side. Yet for the sake of kick-starting a sequel, he needs a male heir to avoid war with General Izzi (Wesley Snipes), leader of Nextdoria (you come up with a better fake name). And as it just so happens, Akeem hooked with up a woman named Mary (Leslie Jones) in the ‘80s, and unknown to Akeem, Mary raised his s...

Aston Villa interested in signing Liverpool youngster

Aston Villa are interested in signing the Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster this summer. The 20-year-old striker was on loan at Swansea City last season and he managed to score 11 goals for them. Brewster needs to leave the club in order to play regular first-team football and it will be interesting to see if the likes of Villa can agree on a fee with Liverpool in the coming weeks. According to Independent, Sheffield United are keen on signing the young striker as well and they have already spoken to the Reds regarding a move. Liverpool value the young striker at £25 million and they are hoping to insert a buy-back clause in the contract if Brewster is sold this summer. Such a deal would be ideal for Liverpool as it would allow the player to develop with the regular first-team football el...

Paul Feig Blames Ghostbusters Reboot Backlash on Anti-Hillary Clinton Movement

In 2016, Hillary Clinton became the first female presidential candidate to be backed by a major US party. Gender was not surprisingly a hot button issue throughout the Clinton vs. Donald Trump election, dividing households nationwide, but longtime film director Paul Feig believes that the vitriol against Clinton had a substantial impact beyond politics: he blames the anti-Hillary movement for the backlash he received for his female-led Ghostbusters reboot. Speaking on Jess Cagle’s SiriusXM show last week, Feig said, “I think some really brilliant author, researcher or sociologist, needs to write a book about 2016 and how intertwined we were with Hillary [Clinton] and the anti-Hillary movement.” Officially titled Ghostbusters: Answer the Call, the reboot hit theaters Summer 2016, just ...
