Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz It took a while, but DJ Khaled has finally made the jump to the podcast scene. Immediately after LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers defeated his Miami Heat in the NBA Finals, DJ Khaled announced his partnership with James and his longtime friend Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Company and Amazon Music for his new podcast The First One. The new show joins the lineup of podcast content that Amazon announced it was rolling it a month ago. As to what expect from the show that Khaled describes as an “audio movie,” he will be sitting down remotely and sometimes face-to-face to chop it up with his favorite artists like Lil Wayne, Fat Joe, Jon Bon Jovi, Kelly Rowland, and many more. Khaled had this to say about his newest venture: “I’m recording my p...
This was a particularly memorable win in an unusual year. NBA titles are typically won in June. This is no typical year. After a long break due to the pandemic, the competition restarted in a special “bubble” built in Florida to keep teams and their staff healthy. James and Co. gave the Lakers their first championship since the late superstar Kobe Bryant won his fifth and final title a decade ago. After the game, The King and fellow star Anthony Davis dedicated the trophy to Bryant, who died January in a helicopter crash. The Lakers’ 17th title tie the Boston Celtics franchise for the all-time record. Lakers fans partied well into the night as fans from the music community and across the entertainment worlds shared their thoughts on this historic season. Check out reaction from Snoop Dogg,...
Source: MEGAN JELINGER / Getty LeBron James continues to doing the good Lord’s work for communities in Ohio, this time to get Clevland locals registered to vote ahead of the November presidential election. Raw Story reports James’ voting rights group, More Than a Vote, in partnership with the NBA, the government, and civic groups, held a non-partisan voter registration drive that helped registered more than 700 people via in-person or online at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Source: AAron Ontiveroz/MediaNews Group/The Denver Post via Getty Images / Getty LeBron James is just like the rest of us, fed the f*ck up and frustrated following Wednesday’s (Sept.24) horrendous decision in the Breonna Taylor case. James was one of the many athletes extremely unsurprisingly disappointed and upset with the decision not to charge any officers in the unjustified shooting death of Breonna Taylor. Immediately following the decision, James took to Twitter to voice his anger and revisited the powerful message the late Malcolm X shared regarding the treatment of Black women around the world. “The most DISRESPECTED person on Earth is THE BLACK WOMAN! I promise you I’ll do my best to change this as much as I can and even more!!! Love to you Queens all over this country and beyond....
Source: Kevin C. Cox / Getty LeBron James had time for armchair experts critiquing his performance on the court. Fresh off a stunning Los Angeles Lakers victory over the Denver Nuggets in game two of the Western Conference Finals that saw Anthony Davis nail a buzzer-beating three, James took some time to address his haters. Before the game came down to the defining moment, the Lakers were cruising, for the most part, led by a torrid start by James before he cooled off in the second half, and Davis took over. Critics like professional LeBron James hater, Skip Bayless, didn’t waste time twisting himself into a pretzel to find a way to fault King James for the Lakers almost losing the game. They believe that Bron was trying to get himself out of the pivotal moment and relieving himself of the...
Source: Michael Reaves / Getty Last week a gunman critically injured two lawmen in Los Angeles. Now LeBron James is being asked to contribute what he can to secure a capture. As spotted on CBS Local LA a Los Angeles County Sheriff is putting King James to task on putting his money where his mouth is. Last Saturday (Sept. 12), two deputies were shot by an unknown individual in Compton. According to the report, the male and female badges sat in their patrol by the Metro Blue Line station at Willowbrook Avenue and Elm Street. The suspect walked past the passenger door and unloaded several shots. On Monday (Sept. 13), Sheriff Alex Villanueva asked the NBA champion to contribute to the reward during a radio interview. “I want to make a challenge to LeBron James. I want you to match that an...
