Two more women have joined a lawsuit against Bassnectar, which details allegations of sexual abuse, grooming, human trafficking, and manufacturing and possessing child pornography. The two new plaintiffs, Jenna Houston and Jane Doe #1, allege that Bassnectar groomed and sexually abused them as minors, causing lasting physical and psychological damage. Rolling Stone reports Houston said that Bassnectar reached out to her via a direct message on Twitter after she had tweeted lyrics in April 2012, when Houston was 16 years of age and Bassnectar was 34. “A few months after first contacting Jenna, Bassnectar came to Jenna’s home state of Pennsylvania and had her meet him at the Ritz Carlton hotel in Philadelphia, PA,” the lawsuit states. The suit goes on to detail multipl...

The British actress first went public with her claims against Manson in February 2021, shortly after Manson’s former fiancée Evan Rachel Wood and four other women alleged that they were abused by the rocker. In a tell-all interview with New York magazine’s The Cut, Bianco detailed a similarly tumultuous relationship with Manson, who she became romantically involved with in 2009 during the filming of his video “I Want to Kill You Like They Do in the Movies”. A US federal investigation has been launched into policing practices in the city of Minneapolis, a day after one of its former officers was convicted of the murder of George Floyd. The justice department will look at whether there has been a pattern “of unconstitutional or unlawful policing”, Attorney General Merrick Garland said. It follows national outrage over the killing of Floyd by Derek Chauvin. The former officer was convicted of all charges against him on Tuesday. Chauvin was filmed kneeling on Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes during an arrest in May 2020. Floyd, an unarmed African American, was pronounced dead an hour later. His death sparked protests across the US and worldwide, and calls for police reform. Tuesday’s verdict has been widely welcomed in a country where poli...
Prior to its catastrophic downfall, it at one point seemed that Fyre Festival could command any price for a coveted ticket to the Great Exuma event. Now, four years in the rearview, it ended up being the attendees who would be compensated for their troubles. Well, at least some of them anyway. According to The New York Times, 277 ticket holders have reached a settlement with Fyre Festival amounting to a total of $2 million—that’s $7,220 apiece. Due to the stratification of ticket prices, which ranged from $1,000 to $12,000 a pop, and with some limited luxury packages priced in the tens of thousands, it’s difficult to say whether anyone came out ahead or even broke even in terms of financials after all of this. The initial class action suit was submitted for a cl...
After two years, a judge has finally put an end to the lengthy legal battle between dance music producers ARTY and Marshmello. The copyright suit was filed in May 2019 after ARTY claimed that Mello had stolen the melody of his 2014 remix of OneRepublic‘s “I Lived,” subsequently recycling it for the 2018 hit single “Happier” with Bastille. Dan Smith, the British band’s frontman, was also named in the copyright suit along with producer Steve Mac. The decision came down on Thursday in favor of Marshmello, Smith and Mac, with California US District Judge Philip S. Gutierrez ruling that ARTY had no grounds to sue under the terms of his “I Lived” contract with OneRepublic. “I acknowledge and agree that ...
