Fall Out Boy capped off a busy day on Tuesday, January 18th by appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform their new single, “Love from the Other Side.” Following guitarist Joe Trohman’s announcement that he was taking a leave of absence, Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, and Andy Hurley played as a trio. For some extra backup, Wentz enlisted some of his biggest fans to don wigs of his signature emo haircut and escort him to the stage. Once he joined Stump and Hurley, the bassist took off his wig to reveal his current blonde tresses and FOB ran through the first single off their newly announced album, So Much (For) Stardust. Stump didn’t seem to skip a beat despite taking greater responsibility on the guitar, and the crowd was visibly enthused by the performance. Watch Fall Out Boy play “Love from...
Alvvays stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, where they played “Belinda Says,” one of the best songs of 2022. For the performance, the Canadian band rounded out their already layered sound by bringing out a small string section. Watch the band’s late night television debut below. “Belinda Says” is taken off Blue Rev, one of the best albums released in 2022. Coming five years after their sophomore album, Antisocialites, the record also includes the singles “Pharmacist” and “Easy on Your Own?” Last month, they released a video for “Many Mirrors” created by Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone. Celebrating the release of his new album Every Loser, Iggy Pop was the latest musical guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The punk rock icon performed “Frenzy”, a highlight from the feature-heavy record. The set marked the late-night debut of Pop’s band The Losers featuring our 2022 Producer of the Year Andrew Watt as well as Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Josh Klinghoffer, and Guns N’ Roses Duff McKagan. Watt shreds like he’s ready for the spotlight, while Klinghoffer, Smith, and McKagan demonstrated all the veteran stage presence you might have expected. But as always, the 75-year-old Pop stole the show, manhandling the mic stand and dancing with more energy than most men a third of his age. Check out “Frenzy” below. Every Loser also included...
IDLES rang in the new year with a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night. As the evening’s musical guest, the English post-punks performed “The Wheel,” a highlight form their 2021 album Crawler. From their various other late-night performances to their documentary, we know very well by now that IDLES know how to work a stage, whether it be a sweaty, scrappy punk venue or high up in the glossy studios of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Their earth-shattering riffs, combined with the flashing strobe lights behind them, matched their ferocious energy. As frontman Joe Talbot smashed a cymbal belted the song’s anthem — “can I get a hallelujah?” — even the comparatively tame audience couldn’t help but throw a few whoops in response. Watch IDLES perform “The...
Lizzo sleighed the Christmas episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Elvis star Austin Butler. On SNL’s last episode before 2023, not a flute was stirring for her performance of “Break Up Twice,” from this summer’s Special, and her rendition of Stevie Wonder’s “Someday at Christmas.” Twitter users quickly noted the singer’s nod to painter Annie Lee’s iconic self-portrait “Blue Monday” at the onset of her first song, while her flashy gold-and-silver ensemble for the latter positioned her perfectly as the gift that keeps on giving. Elsewhere in the episode, Lizzo appeared in a Please Don’t Destroy sketch with Butler. Watch below. Related Video Lizzo made her SNL debut in 2019 with host Eddie Murphy, also that year’s final episode, and she later returned to pull double-duty as host and musi...
