During their appearance, the rock veterans performed “All the Good Ones”. The track is a melodic ballad that wouldn’t be too out of place with Rivers Cuomo and company’s previous catalog, except for the heavier ’80s hard rock-inspired guitar riffs. “Rock and roll sounds better in the car,” he sang passionately on Fallon. “I just love the way she plays guitar/ When she dives down on the whammy bar/ She’ll be stuck on repeat, repeat in my head.” Van Weezer was released last week and was previewed by singles like...

Cyrus’ presence was felt from the very onset, as she soundtracked a Mother’s Day-themed cold opening. As various SNL cast members appeared alongside their mothers, Cyrus sang “Light Of A Clear Blue Morning”, a song by her own god mother, Dolly Parton. Later in the episode, she teamed with The Kid Laori for the live debut of her remix of “Without You”, and performed the title track to her latest album, Plastic Hearts. The Tonight Show appearance was the first step of a Beach Bunny victory lap, as the journey that began with the 2020 album Honeymoon culminates in a gigantic North American tour which the Chicago outfit announced earlier this week. The band gave prospective ticket holders plenty of cause to reach for their wallets. Visually, the set was stunning, with blue and violet backdrops adding warmth to the suspended clouds. Even as the melody bounced up and down, singer Lili Trifilio injected a playful emotionality in...

Cudi’s late-night spins on “Tequila Shots” and “Sad People” will be remembered as much for the rapper’s wardrobe than the performances themselves — through both were impressive in their own right. For “Tequila Shots”, Cudi wore a T-shirt donning the image of former SNL cast member Chris Farley, while “Sad People” saw him wear a floral dress akin to the cardigan Kurt Cobain famously wore. Replay both performances below. Cudi has long expressed his admiration of Cobai...

It will be released on July 9th via New West Records, one week before the band’s 53-date arena tour. Exit Wounds spans 10 songs and was produced by Butch Walker. Singer-songwriter Shelby Lynne appears on four tracks. In a statement, Dylan explained the meaning of the album’s title. “I think everybody — no matter what side of the aisle you’re on — wherever we’re going to next, we’re all taking a lot of exit wounds with us. Nobody is the same as they were four years ago,” he said. “That, to me, is what E...

The musician and the host primarily talked about her “stream of consciousness” writing approach for the book and her “faith journey as a queer person”. Right before the segment’s end, though, Colbert asked Carlile if she would treat him to a cover of Joni Mitchell, and Carlile happily obliged with an acoustic rendition of “A Case of You”. In a way, this cover song was a multiple-year-long dream for Colbert. Back in 2019, Carlile performed the entirety of Mitchell’s iconic 1971 album Blue at the Disney ...
St. Vincent performs on SNL St. Vincent delivered her first public performance in support of Daddy’s Home with a late-night appearance on Saturday Night Live. It was an appropriate venue for Annie Clark to debut material from her upcoming full-length, given that the album was heavily inspired by early 1970s New York City. “I would say it’s the sound of being down and out Downtown in New York, 1973. Glamour that hasn’t slept for three days,” she previously explained in an interview. In keeping with that aesthetic, Clark went full retro for her two-song SNL set. Lead single “Pay Your Way In Pain” saw St. Vinny perform in a chic full-body jumpsuit, singing into an old-school microphone. When she later returned to the stage to play her latest song, “The Melting of the Sun”, she was draped in a...
Philadelphia rockers Low Cut Connie have announced a new compilation, Tough Cookies: The Best of The Quarantine Broadcasts, collecting cover songs recorded during the band’s twice-weekly live streams. It will be out on May 19th digitally and on vinyl. As frontman Adam Weiner explained in a press statement, the 23-track LP pulls from his Tough Cookies live stream project with guitarist Will Donnelly, which celebrates its one-year anniversary this month. It contains just a fraction of the more than 500 covers they have performed during the broadcasts. “Two weeks into quarantine, we ‘went live’ in my spare bedroom in South Philly to cheer up our fans. There was no script, no plan, just a couple schmucks trying every form of entertainment to try to lift people’s spirits,” Weiner said. “Now a y...

On Tuesday night, Brittany Howard stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform “Short and Sweet” with her trademark show-stopping skills. However, unlike most musical guests on the show, she had the added pressure of singing in front of the former First Lady Michelle Obama, who was coincidentally a guest on the same episode. Unsurprisingly, Howard is a bonafide show-stopper and she delivered her rendition of the song flawlessly. Watch a replay her performance below. Howard’s late-night performance arrived on the heels of her whirlwind evening at the Grammy Awards this past weekend. She received a total of five nominations, including Best Alternative Music Album for her remarkable album Jaime, and ultimately took home a statue for Best Rock Song thanks to “Stay High”. She also sang the hell out...
Michelle Zauner, aka Japanese Breakfast, served as the musical guest on Monday night’s episode of Jimmy Fallon, where she performed her latest single, “Be Sweet”. Additionally, in a nod to her debut appearance on The Tonight Show, Zauner dusted off “Jimmy Fallon Big!”, from 2017’s Soft Sounds from Another Planet, as a web exclusive. Zauner and her band filmed their mini-set at Brooklyn’s National Sawdust. With the exception of a female patron at the bar and an extraterrestrial bartender, the venue was completely empty. As such, the only way to view both performances is by clicking the play button on the videos embedded below. “Be Sweet” is the lead single from Zauner’s upcoming album, Jubilee, out June 4th via Dead Oceans. The record follows 2016’s Psychopomp and 2017’s...

The revealing episode is currently available to stream on all major podcast platforms. Check out all three of Baker’s CBS This Morning perf...
