Las Vegas is receiving a major makeover this summer. Not only is the Strip getting its first new resort in the last decade, but a lavish new dayclub has also emerged. Élia Beach Club is scheduled to open in June 2021 under the Virgin Hotels umbrella. The club is said to take inspiration from the beloved day clubs of Mykonos and will become the new go-to location for house music lovers. The ambiance will be much more relaxed than some of its competitors, showcasing deep and tropical house in its musical programming. Attendees should expect to see beautiful wood-framed cabanas draped in the crisp white hue synonymous with the Greek Isles. The stage will be decked out in ambient palm fronds and stone accents, transporting revelers to a Mediterranean vacation with no passport required. Vi...
The “Headliners” aren’t the only ones reeling from the postponement of EDC Las Vegas. The COVID-19 pandemic has been brutal for the live music scene, and while fans have certainly felt its absence, the impact of the virus has been particularly devastating for music festival workers and venue crews. The lighting technicians who painstakingly retrofit stages with the rigs responsible for blowing minds; the security guards who grab creepy men by their collars and throw them out like Uncle Phil launches Jazz in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air; the ticket scanners who literally open the gates of the most memorable times of music fans’ lives. These people are often overlooked by the music community at large despite their pivotal roles in ensuring special and safe experie...

Superstar DJ Steve Aoki and his brother Kevin, a renowned restauranteur, are opening a new Japanese-inspired eatery on the Las Vegas Strip. Kuru Kuru Pa will open this summer as part of the rollout of Zouk Group’s Resorts World Las Vegas, the first resort built on the Strip in the last decade. According to the restaurant’s social media, its design and concept were inspired by Japanese culture and anime. Kuru Kuru Pa’s menu will feature a variety of yakitori and kushiyaki (types of grilled or skewered chicken), and yaki onigiri (a grilled rice ball), among other signature dishes. Kuru Kuru Pa isn’t the first restaurant venture for the Aoki brothers. Back in 2012 they opened Bluetree Café in Honolulu, a juice bar and café known for its beautiful açaí bowls. ...

As the COVID-19 pandemic rages on, a number of marquee Las Vegas pool clubs are set to reopen after a year of unprecedented cancellations and layoffs. The imminent return of the clubs are attributed to Directive 037, a new edict signed and executed by Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak on February 14th that eases COVID-19 restrictions across the state. The order effectively relaxed restrictions on public gatherings by allowing those of 100 people, or 35% of a venue’s capacity—whichever is less. In January, Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman said that Las Vegas is “ready to welcome back the world” in her annual State of the City address. Famed MGM Grand pool party destination Wet Republic, which has featured electronic music superstars such as Ma...
Source: Eyepix/WENN / WENN When Mike Tyson speaks people listen. In a recent Q&A, the boxing great reveals that he feels to blame for one of the culture’s biggest losses with the passing of 2Pac. As spotted on Page Six, the former world champion did an interview with Zab Judah. While the Brooklyn native spoke on some of his most iconic moments, he also spoke about his good friend and supporter, Tupac “2Pac” Shakur. On September 13, 1996, the rapper was attending the Bruce Seldon vs. Mike Tyson match in Las Vegas. Shortly after Mike’s victory, the “Hit Em Up” rapper was infamously gunned down on the strip following an altercation with Crip gang member Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson at the MGM Grand casino. The Hotboxing host said he asked Shakur to record a brand new song to be ...
UFC star, Israel Adesanya, can expect to get back in the Octagon fairly soon, though it won’t be to defend his middleweight title. UFC President Dana White told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto that Adesanya will move up to light heavyweight to face Jan Blachowicz. White and Adesanya reportedly spoke about the move Friday with the undefeated Nigeria-born New Zealander on board to switch weight classes. Adesanya was spotted at UFC Fight Night 181 in Las Vegas on Saturday and had a small back-and-forth with middleweight Kevin Holland after the latter defeated Charlie Ontiveros via technical knockout. Holland appeared to call out Adesanya for a shot at the title after winning four straight bouts in 2020. It appears such a fight will have to wait—as will any potential middleweight title fight, which White...
