LP Is Not Broke, Just Needs Support To Fund Obi’s Campaign – Julius Abure

Tweet Tweet Share Whatsapp reddit At a well attended inauguration of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja on Friday, I spoke extensively on the importance of campaign funding and the need for collaboration with stakeholders, particularly the candidates of the party at various levels. I also emphasised that our presidential candidate alone cannot fund the election as he is known to be someone who did not engage in the gluttonic acquisition of our common patrimony in his days as a public servant. .ua81f07233fc25aa4890f5318b6a63e79 { padding:0px; margin: 0; padding-top:1em!important; padding-bottom:1em!important; width:100%; display: block; font-weight:bold; background-color:inherit; border:0!important; border-left:4px solid #16A085!important; box-shadow: 0 1px 2px rgba(0, ...

Binance Australia CEO: regulations will establish higher standards in crypto

As the struggle for regulatory clarity down under rages on, Binance Australia’s CEO Leigh Travers thinks that such a framework will prove the crypto industry “holds itself to a higher standard” than many believe. Travers spoke with Cointelegraph on June 14 about the current state of local crypto regulatory efforts and how the opportunities available in the industry are restricted by the lack of clarity. That lack of clarity was cited as the reason why the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) has indefinitely postponed a pilot program for its crypto trading services last month. Although there are no rules on the books directly prohibiting CBA’s new service, Australian financial regulators pushed for a pause on the services because of absent consumer protections. Without the regulations in p...

Australia’s competition chief claims victory after Facebook standoff

The architect of Australian media reforms being watched around the world claimed victory on Wednesday, even as critics said concessions to the laws forcing Big Tech to pay for news content have given Facebook and Google a get-out clause. The Australian government made late changes to the laws after Facebook last week blocked news content in Australia, escalating a dispute over the proposed legislation and catching international attention. The amended legislation is expected to pass the Senate this week, despite opposition from some minor opposition parties and independent politicians who argue it disadvantages smaller news companies. Rod Sims, the chairman of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), told Reuters the bargaining power imbalance he was tasked with correcting...

British parliament approves second national lockdown

The British Parliament has approved a four-week coronavirus lockdown plan to begin Thursday morning. Lawmakers approved the plan Wednesday, 516-38. Beginning 1 a.m. Thursday, all nonessential businesses including pubs, restaurants, hairdressers, golf courses, gyms, swimming pools, entertainment and sporting venues will close until at least December 2. The vote on Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s lockdown plan was never really in doubt after the opposition Labor Party said it would support the move, even though it criticized Johnson for acting too slowly. Some in Johnson’s own party, however, voted against the plan, saying a national lockdown was too severe. The plan is an effort prevent COVID-19 from escalating out of control and overwhelming Britain’s National Health Service. It represents ...
