“Why not?” is something we say when asked if we want another beer, or deciding to add guac to a burrito. For Kygo, it was dropping a full-length album. The dance music superstar has surprise-released a brand new LP, Thrill Of The Chase. The album, which he hadn’t even announced prior to today, is his first since 2020’s scintillating Golden Hour. Kygo said a few of the songs on Thrill Of The Chase are “different from anything” he’s ever created in the past. That sentiment is most perceptible in “All For Love,” a cinematic banger which dumps his lush sound like sour milk in favor of a darker aesthetic. The same can be said of “Gone Are The Days,” an aching ballad featuring a wistful James Gillespie. Kygo’s ride-or-dies w...

The ongoing initiative to make single-use plastics a thing of the past has broken new ground with Cove, the world’s first biodegradable water bottle. The Cove water bottle has been an effort five years in the making. Diplo, Ellie Goulding and Kygo‘s Palm Tree Crew are among the company’s high-profile list of early investors. It’s no surprise the artists are backing the future of environmentally friendly water consumption as the technology has been highly sought after by festivals around the globe looking to reduce the stubbornly large size of their carbon footprint. But the reach of Cove is likely to extend well beyond the festival niche. Most major retailers have already expressed interest, according to Cove’s Founder, Alex Totterman. There’s nothing that blurs the line between frightening and fascinating quite like artificial intelligence. And since artificial intelligence and electronic music are becoming more symbiotic by the day, the staff here at EDM.com wanted to see just how far it could go in a visual sense. So we came up with bizarre descriptions of artists and fed them through A.I. art generators. Some images are photorealistic. Others are fancifully distorted. And the majority of them are flat-out creepy. But we digress. Read on to see our weird and wonderful creations. Kygo‘s “Freeze” is an ode to life’s unforgettable moments. Following the release of the spritely “Dancing Feet” alongside chart-topping dance-pop band DNCE, Kygo opts for a distinctly sentimental tone switch on his latest single, “Freeze.” The near 8-minute single opens with a modest piano melody, but this is merely just the humble beginning of a slow-burning sonic journey that’s thoroughly worth exploring. “Freeze” is rooted in the innate human desire to hit pause on life’s most impactful moments in real time. The production builds with dreamy, twinkling synth soundscapes before a driving, modular bassline whips the arrangement into a satisfying house chorus. The track’s cathartic moments feel markedly more cine...
