Listen to Krewella’s Visceral Third Album, “The Body Never Lies”

After a period of deeply personal self-examination, Krewella have emerged with a brand new album. The barnstorming electronic music duo have dropped the curtain on The Body Never Lies, their third album and most intimate one to date. It’s their first full-length record since 2020’s Zer0, which arrived seven years after their breakthrough debut, Get Wet. From the frenetic drum & bass rhythms of “In The Water” to the soaring synths of “6 Feet,” the album is visceral and designed to indulge the senes. And after looking inward, it’s clear that Krewella wrote the record with a renewed sense of spirituality. “The clench of a fist, the pit in your stomach, the fluid in your veins; the body is a sensor, messenger, keeper of stories, a fortress of...

Krewella and BEAUZ Team Up for Anthemic Dance Track, “Never Been Hurt”

With their newest single “Never Been Hurt,” a collab with BEAUZ, sister-duo Krewella triumphantly returns to the airwaves in a sizzling arrangement of pop and deep house. Released today via Krewella’s own Mixed Kids Records, “Never Been Hurt” is a love-inspired anthem complete with a four-on-the-floor beat and a thick bassline. Pitched vocal chops and sultry lyrical elements swirl with a hypnotic punch in the track: “Touch me like heaven is real,” it begins before an eventual closing verse—courtesy of BEAUZ—adds depth and edge. Check out the angsty “Never Been Hurt” below. “The inspiration comes from the feeling of the body and heart slowly opening its doors again after being calloused by the pain of love,...

We Surveyed Dance Music Fans On Which Iconic Early 2010’s Single Deserved a 2021 Rework

Fans are yearning for the soaring, euphoric riffs characteristic of the iconic house music singles that dominated the early 2010s. At least, that’s one interpretation of a new EDM.com social media poll.  When we asked the fans which classic dance music single needed some 2021 remix magic, nearly 20,000 nostalgic respondents weighed in. By a wide margin, electronic music fans felt Swedish House Mafia‘s swan song, “Don’t You Worry Child” could use a resurgence. The single was among the first dance tracks at the time to land on major metropolitan pop radio stations, unifying fans across the globe in the process. Simultaneously, we sullenly counted down to the conclusion of the group’s One Last Tour, which felt like the definitive end to an era. Li...

Listen to ILLENIUM’s Heartfelt Fourth Album, “Fallen Embers”

Marking the beginning of a new chapter, ILLENIUM‘s Fallen Embers album has finally arrived.  When his nonstop touring schedule came to a halt last year, ILLENIUM took to the studio with the goal of creating something truly remarkable. And after tying a bow on a triptych of albums in 2019—offering up only a handful of singles in 2020—Illenials were left wondering what was next.  Later that year, the news broke that a new album was in the works. In conjunction with the announcement, ILLENIUM released “Nightlight,” a collaboration with Annika Wells that offered a peek into his forthcoming album. Soon after, he dropped the punk-inspired “Paper Thin” with Tom DeLonge and his band Angels & Airwaves. “Hearts on F...

How Rain Man Reinvented Himself in a Post-Krewella World

They say the strongest swords are forged in the hottest fires. The adage rings true in the saga of Rain Man, whose life became an inferno following the explosive 2014 fallout from the split of his former band, Krewella. But as the embers of the pandemonium flickered out over the years, so did his habit of allowing his past to dictate his future. Rain Man, whose real name is Kris Trindl, recently set alight the kindling of a new chapter with the release of “Still Young,” a poignant, chest-thumping electronic track recorded alongside longtime creative collaborator Oly. The song is a microcosm not only of Trindl’s resilience, but also that of humanity after a lonely year thanks to the wrath of COVID-19. And after some serious reflection, it seems we’re w...
