The new cut is accompanied with a performance video, which shows the boy band veterans working their musical magic in a spacious living room, draped in clean-and-comfy white curtains, decorated with house plants, and with a six-strong band in support. NCT’s Ten Is Willing to Try It All

To understand why Ten of NCT, WayV, and SuperM is in such high demand, all you have to do is watch him in motion. Contemporary dance is at the heart of his first solo single, “Dream In a Dream,” which was released four years after he joined Seoul-based company SM Entertainment and one year after he debuted in the ever-shifting NCT U. Empty verses and sparse choruses, as well as a barren set, left room for Ten’s dancing to take center stage. The effect was breathtaking — in 2017, it whet the appetite of those getting their first taste of NCT’s then-novel concept — but more importantly, it showed what Ten brings to the table when twenty-plus members, and multiplying, are seated by his side. Since then, his work in NCT’s Chinese subgroup WayV and SM’s internationally-focused SuperM has peeled...

fromis_9 Talk Summer Single ‘Stay This Way,’ Respect Among Members & First Year With HYBE Labels

Nothing can snatch the good vibes away from fromis_9. Two days before releasing their new EP from our Memento Box on June 27, a minor car accident involving five of the nine members of the K-pop girl group forced them to cancel a press conference ahead of the album drop. The collision temporarily halted promotional plans (their PR put out a statement saying that all passengers’ injuries were “not serious and they were all immediately taken to the emergency room for medical examination and treatment”) and fans were already more than ready to watch the ninesome’s latest move in their upward climb toward K-pop stardom. In August 2021, fromis_9 officially moved labels to PLEDIS Entertainment, home to K-pop mega-sellers SEVENTEEN, under the HYBE Labels family that houses BTS and Tomor...

2020 MAMA Awards Bring in AR, XR and Volumetric Display Sets in Record High Turnout

BTS, BoA, NCT, Seventeen and Twice are just a few among many K-pop stars who performed this year and pushed the show’s immersive production to its fullest. BTS in particular made use of AR and spectacular 3D effects throughout the group’s set, even bringing in SUGA, a band member who’s currently recovering from surgery on a shoulder injury, to perform with them as a hologram in “Life Goes On.” The effect was made possible by a volumetric display, which records an object or place in 360-degrees and builds an interactive 3D avatar that can be viewed from any direction without special glasses or headsets. And BTS weren’t the only ones pushing the limits of tech: Treasure combined a robot arm with a laser system, presented a new kind of performance, and Twice performed on a virtual XR studio s...
