And hopefully, in time, this will get better.” Davis also didn’t rule out that bassist Fieldy may be back with the band sometime soon. He told Lipps that Fieldy needed some time off and “when he’s ready, he’ll be ready.” Since it began in 2018, the acclaimed podcast has featured many of the biggest voices and personalities in music, including exclusive interviews with Red Hot Chili Peppers singer Anth...

Korn revealed plans to release their thirteenth album, Requiem. From that upcoming collection, the Bakersfield nü-metal band shared the first single “Start the Healing.” Requiem is out February 4 via Loma Vista and is available for pre-order now. It follows the band’s 2019 album The Nothing, which was produced by Chris Collier and Korn. The “Start The Healing” video was directed by Tim Saccenti, (Flying Lotus, Run The Jewels, Depeche Mode) and is in collaboration with 3D artist Anthony Ciannamea. To tease the new music, Korn previewed a snippet of the track within a Instagram filter, and billboards with the band’s logo appeared throughout the world last week. “Our idea for this video was to mutate that aspect of the DNA of Korn, of what makes them so inspiring, their mix of raw p...

Anthrax, Mastodon, Korn Members, DMC Cover Faith No More’s ‘We Care A Lot’

Making music on Zoom — on the surface — seems weird (that whole connectivity thing). But, yet again, a group of musicians joining forces to show strength in numbers managed to work. Mastodon’s Bill Kelliher, Korn’s Ray Luzier, Anthrax’s Frank Bello, DMC, Filter’s Richard Patrick and more collaborated for a cover of Faith No More’s “We Care A Lot” in support of the Roadie Relief effort, which aims to help out of work crew members who have been impacted by the pandemic. The collaboration was organized by Slaves on Dope members Jason Rockman and Kevin Jardine. Also featuring on the song were Walter Schreifels of Quicksand, Dennis Lyxzén of Refused and more. Nickelback Follow Korn By Covering Charlie Daniels’ ‘Devil Went Down to Georgia’

The passing of country icon Charlie Daniels on July 6 has now inspired aural tributes from a pair of seemingly unlikely sources: ’90s nü-metal progenitors Korn and Canadian hitmakers Nickelback. Both lineups took on the classic 1979 hit “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” in their own signature styles. Korn, who previously covered artists ranging from Cameo (“Word Up”) to Cheech & Chong (“Earache My Eye”), teamed up with Southern rapper Yelawolf, for their version of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” which dropped July 28. Nickelback’s version of the classic country epic offers up metallic guitars and speedy shredding in place of the classic fiddle, while their accompanying cartoon video shows a red devil rocking out on a double-neck guitar. Singer Chad Kroeger even drops in an F-bomb int...

Korn and Yelawolf Cover ‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia’

Raise your hand if you expected Korn and Yelawolf to collaborate. Now, raise your hand if you ever thought you’d see the two join forces to cover a Charlie Daniels song. Yep, not many — if any — thought that would happen. But it did. The Jonathan Davis-led band enlisted the rapper to tackle the recently departed Daniels’ “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” The metal version of the song, released Tuesday, is available on Bandcamp. All of the proceeds will go to Awakening Youth, a charity that helps young people who have lost a parent realize positive change in their lives. “We’re very excited to bring you our cover of the late, great Charlie Daniels’ infamous track, ‘The Devil Went Down To Georgia,’” reads a statement on Korn’s Bandcamp. “Charlie left a musical legacy that goe...
