Attah-Igala urges promotion of values, development of Igala land

Attah-Igala and President, Kogi Council of Chiefs, Dr Michael Idakwo, Ameh-Oboni II, on Friday urged the Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA) to remain committed to the promotion of values and development of the land. Idakwo made the call while receiving the newly inaugurated 20-member Interim National Working Committee of the ICDA, the apex socio-cultural association of the Igala nation, at his palace in Idah. DPR seals off 15 illegal gas outlets in Kogi

The Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, on Thursday moved heavily against persons dealing illegally in the sales of domestic gas in Kogi State, sealing off 15 retail gas outlets in the process. The operators of the outlets were subsequently arrested and handed over to men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence, NSCDC who were part of the special committee set up to go round the Lokoja metropolis. Speaking during the raid, the Chief operating officer, Idris Mohammed said that the raid became necessary in view of the proliferation of retail outlets sited in a residential areas, which run contrary to the safety rules laid down by the DPR. Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has assured that the governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State will be free and fair. Late former Edo Speaker’s wife, driver abducted by gunmen

Wife of late former Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Hassana Garuba, has been reportedly abducted by gunmen. Her husband, Zakawanu Garuba, who died yesterday at Abuja after a brief illness, was being taken home to Auchi for burial when the widow, her three children and the aged mother of the late former Speaker encountered the gunmen at Kabba junction in Kogi State. They were said to have abducted the widow and the driver, leaving the three children and their grandmother stranded in the vehicle. A younger brother of the late Zakawanu Garuba, said the kidnappers are yet to establish contact with the family but arrangements have been made to bring the children and their grandmother home. Governor Wike: Abdullahi Ganduje has exposed plot to rig Edo election

Rivers State Governor and Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Campaign Council for Edo Governorship Election, Nyesom Wike, has said the statement credited to Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, that he (Wike) will be quarantined, was an admission of the plot by the party to use security forces to rig the Edo State election come September 19. PDP alleges plot to ‘derail’ Edo guber poll

The Peoples Democratic Party has alleged plots by the All Progressives Congress to use the trio of Governors Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, and Yahaya Bello of Kogi State to derail the September 19 Edo State Governorship Election. NMA: President Buhari should issue order for unfettered access into Kogi

File Photo Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has sent a “Save Our Soul” message to President Muhammadu Buhari to rescue the people of Kogi state from pending major health crisis that may be possibly caused by undetected COVID-19 pandemic. Official: 400 bandits killed in airstrikes in Katsina, Zamfara

The Defence Headquarters says the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji has neutralised no fewer than 200 armed bandits in multiple air strikes in Katsina and Zamfara. The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja said the operations were in continuation of the offensive to rid the country of bandits and other criminal elements.
