Bandits kidnap village head, wives, others in Katsina

Bandits on Monday night kidnapped the village head of Kaigar Malamai, Kabir Muhammed Ajiya, his two wives and 14 other peasant farmers in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina state. The bandits were said to have also ransacked the entire village, injuring six other persons and rustled unspecified cows in the village. A survivor of the attack, Umar Abdulsalam, who spoke to newsmen in a telephone interview on Tuesday, said the villagers had relocated to Dan-Musa town and other nearby villages in the local government. Police parade 27 ‘bandits,’ others in Katsina

The police in Katsina State, on Thursday, paraded a 30-year-old man, Idi Dila, suspected to be one of the bandits who recently launched an attack on Diskuru and Kadsau villages of the state, where no fewer than 12 people were killed. According to the police, Dila, from Mumunu village, Faskari Local Government Area of the state, was arrested on Sunday. He was paraded by the police alongside 26 other suspects arrested for various crimes ranging from kidnapping to armed robbery. The spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, Gambo Isah, who paraded the suspects at the police headquarters in Katsina, said Dila was arrested at Sheme on his way to Faskari. Bandits attack Katsina villages, kill one

No fewer than 200 bandits on Thursday night reportedly attacked Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing a man identified as Alaramma Kano, 57, while injuring three other persons who were rushed to the hospital. Eyewitnesses said the bandits carried out attacks on two villages in the area at about 11.30 pm and rustled some cows.
