Katsina approves 5,000 hectares of land for ranching
The Katsina State Government has approved 5,000 hectares of arable farmland for ranching as part of efforts to curb the herders and farmers’ clashes in farming villages and communities across the state. Governor Aminu Bello Masari, who disclosed this during the 46th annual conference of the Nigerian Society for Animal Production held at the Federal University Dutsin-ma (FUDMA), Katsina, said ranching system will enable the children of herders to have qualitative education. Katsina spends N3 billion on WAEC, NECO fees in five years
The Katsina State Government has spent more than N3 billion on payment of Senior School Certificate Examination fees for 320,058 candidates who sat for the examination between 2015 and 2019. The Commissioner of Education in the state, Prof. Badamasi Lawal, made this known during media briefing in Katsina on Thursday. He said that out of the number, 216,832 candidates scored five credits and above in five subjects, representing 68 per cent. Lawal added that 138,612 candidates obtained five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics, which represents 63 per cent. The Katsina State Government has said it has expended the sum of over N4.2 billion on infrastructure, logistics and security personnel allowances to tackle the wave of banditry and kidnapping bedevilling the state from June 2015 to August 2020. Katsina to build 722-bed capacity isolation centres
The Katsina State government has said it is building isolation centres, with a combined 722-bed capacity, across the state for effective treatment of COVID-19 patients. Governor Aminu Masari announced this when he received three ambulances, donated by BUA Foundation to the state, on Thursday in Katsina. “On our own, we are building isolation centres at various locations across the state, with a combined 722-bed capacity, for treatment of COVID-19 patients. “We have finished one of the centres and admission has started there. The Katsina State Government says it has released N77 million as first tranche of the scholarship package for indigenous medical students of the state. The General Manager, Katsina State Hospital Services Management Board, Dr Abduljalil Abdullahi, announced this via a statement on Monday in Katsina.
