Governor Ganduje: Four million registered with APC in Kano

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has said about four million people have so far registered as members of the All Progressives Congress in the ongoing membership registration /re-validation exercise in the State. This was contained in a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Abba Anwar, in Kano on Monday. He quoted the governor as saying this during the Sixth APC Stakeholders meeting, in Kano. Rivers governor reacts as critics fault design of new bridge after truck accident

Critics are subjecting the Okoro-nu-Odu overhead bridge commissioned for use on Monday in Port Harcourt by Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike, to scrutiny after the fall of a heavy duty truck that was trying to make a turn under it. Kano governor donates N3 million to man who lost seven family members in fire incident

Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has donated N3 million to Malam Abdulrahman Ibrahim Wailari to ameliorate the loss he suffered in a fire disaster that engulfed his house recently. Wailari, a resident of Kumbotso local government area of Kano state, had lost seven members of his family to the inferno. The donation was announced during the flag off ceremony for the distribution of care and maintenance items to 1500 households in the state. The money was meant to enable the victim rebuild his house. Amnesty International condemns Salihu Yakasai’s arrest

Global rights group, Amnesty International, has condemned the arrest of Salihu Tanko Yakasai, who was arrested hours after criticising President Muhammadu Buhari, over the rise in school kidnappings. Yakasai, who was until Saturday afternoon, a media aide to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, was arrested by the Department of State Services on Friday. The National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (Retd) and all the seven governors from the North-West region of the country have scheduled a town-hall meeting for Monday in order to address growing insecurity in the region. Kano arrests, fines 200 for violating coronavirus protocols

About 200 people have been arrested, fined or incarcerated for violating safety protocols as the joint team of security agencies, mobile courts and COVID-19 marshals continue to sensitize and enforce safety protocols in the state. Official: Kano government amends child rights act ‘to reflect Sharia’

The Kano State Executive Council has approved and amended the proposed bill on Child Rights (protection) Act 2010 “to reflect the position of Sharia on all sections of the Child Rights Act (CRA) 2003″. Muhammed Garba, Commissioner for Information in Kano State disclosed this in statement he signed and made available to newsmen in Kano on Saturday, Mr Garba said the decision for the approval was reached at its state council meeting in line with the Federal Government policy of 2003 where states were asked to domesticate the bill . Kano government reaffirms commitment to minimum wage, says deductions temporary

Kano state government has reaffirmed its commitment to the continuous implementation of the N30,600.00 minimum wage for civil servants. It however said, that deduction in November/December workers’ salary was a temporary measure informed by the drop in federal allocation and dwindling internally generated revenue occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic. Nigerian government posts 35 firefighters to man new Treasury House substation

The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, on Wednesday commissioned a fire substation built for the Treasury House which houses the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation. Speaking at the event, the Minister extolled the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr Idris Ahmed, for building the facility which will help battle fire incidents in the building and its environs. Kano State governor Umar Ganduje said he is in support of former Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan’s decision to sack Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as governor of Central Bank of Nigeria in 2014.
