Archbishop Martins decries Southern Kaduna killings

The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Reverend Alfred Adewale Martins, has expressed deep concern over the killings in Southern Kaduna, challenging the government to show more will to deal with the situation. Police: We are investigating killing of Kaduna lawyer

The police in Kaduna State have commenced investigation into the killing of a‎ Kaduna-based lawyer, Haro Gandu, by gunmen at his Abuja Road residence on Sunday, 26 July, 2020 and abduction of his wife and son. It was gathered that late Gandu was an Assistant Director in the state Ministry of Justice. Timothy Gandu, a former Commissioner of Economic Planning in Kaduna State who revealed how bandits killed his brother, had disclosed that they gained access into the house by pulling down a window. They shot the victim on the shoulder as he was trying to escape. Gunmen kill traditional ruler, nine others in Kaduna

Gunmen have killed the traditional ruler of Gora Gan village in Zango-Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State and nine others on Monday. The killings happened 24 hours after some youths were killed during a wedding ceremony in Kukum Daji village of Kaura Local Government. This was even when the leaders of the two warring groups have resolved to end the killings by committing themselves to a peace deal. Gunmen kill 21 in fresh Kaduna village attack

At least 21 people have been reported killed while 28 others sustained various degrees of injuries when gunmen attacked Kukum Daji Village of Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday night. While the State Police Command is yet to confirm the incident, the President of the Community, Mr. Yashen Titus, told newsmen that the gunmen, suspected to be herdsmen, invaded the venue of a wedding party in the community at about 10 pm on Sunday night. Titus, who explained that the suspected herdsmen opened fire on the people who attended the party, said 19 people died on the spot while two others later died at the hospital. NAF rules out foul play in first female combat pilot’s death

The Nigerian Air Force has ruled out insinuations of possible conspiracy in the death of first female combat helicopter pilot, Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile, who was knocked down by an old schoolmate at the NAF Base in Kaduna. Giving details of its preliminary investigations, the Director Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, disclosed: “The death of Flying Officer Arotile was caused by blunt force trauma to the head and significant bleeding resulting from being struck by the vehicle”. Voice of Nigeria A prior presidential panel, which investigated the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, indicted him, a report has alleged. The report noted that the embattled EFCC boss had been unable to account for the interest generated from N550bn cash recovered from 2015 to 2020. NEMA warns of flood in 102 council areas

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has warned of imminent flood in 102 Local Government Areas across 28 states during this year’s rainy season. AVM Muhammadu A Muhammed, Director-General of the agency, said that the yearly Seasonal Rainfall Prediction (SRP), and Annual Flood Outlook (AFO), that were released by the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), predicted this in June. He listed Kaura, Zaria, Kaduna North and Chikun local governments of Kaduna state as being within probable risk areas as some of the 102 local governments area with highly probable risk. A former Secretary to Enugu State Government and former Rector Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna Prof Samson Ukpabi is dead. Until his death he was the traditional ruler of Okpanku community in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu state. The revered traditional ruler who was one of the leading figures in the state died on Sunday morning. He died at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu after a brief illness. Sources close to the family said that Ukpabi spoke with his family members at about 6:15 am on Sunday before he left for the hospital where he died.
