Police confirm abduction of emir, 10 royal family members
The Kaduna state police command has confirmed the abduction of the emir of Kajuru, Alhaji Alhassan Adamu. In a statement on Sunday, spokesman of the command, Mohammad Jalige, said the emir was abducted alongside 10 members of his family. However, a resident of the community said the emir, five members of his family and nine others within the community were abducted. Following the pronouncement of the Federal Government that airline operators must refund the full cost of travel tickets to passengers after a two-hour delay, commercial airlines have listed the conditions for such reimbursement. Kaduna court remands 75-year-old man over ‘sexual assault’ on minor
A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, ordered that a 75-year-old man, Umar Isah, be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old boy. The police charged Isah who resides in Kingshasha Road, Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna with unnatural offence. The Magistrate, Hajara Dauda, who did not take the plea of Isah, held that the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the suit. Dauda directed the police to forward the case file to the state Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice. She adjourned the case until July 13, for further mention. Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Sunday Baba, told the court that Isah committed the offence on July 4 at 1p.m., at his residence. Operatives of the Kaduna Police Command have arrested a suspected bandit around Kudaru forest in Saminaka, Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State and intercepted a Volkswagen vehicle and AK47 rifle. Customs arrests six for smuggling adulterated diesel in polythene bags
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Friday paraded six suspects who smuggled 45,000 litres of adulterated diesel contained in 750 giant polythene bags, which were carefully concealed among sacks of sawdust to deceive security operatives. The seized product has an estimated value of N21,920 million. Also seized were 237 bags of 50kg foreign rice hidden in a petrol tanker.
