Yeonjun and Taehyun of TOMORROW X TOGETHER have dropped their cover of “Stay” by Justin Bieber and The Kid LAROI. Stream it below. On their take, the K-pop idols hew fairly close to the spirit of the original track, bouncing vocal lines off one another and letting their falsetto loose on the song’s floating melody. “When I’m away from you, I miss your touch/ You’re the reason I believe in love,” they croon over slamming pop production. “It’s been difficult for me to trust/ And I’m afraid that I’mma fuck it up/ Ain’t no way that I can leave you stranded/ ‘Cause you ain’t ever left me empty-handed.” Advertisement The TOMORROW X TOGETHER members also released a performance video to coincide with the “Stay” cover, in which they play the reigning No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 from a mattre...

10 Artists Who Changed Their Names Mid-Career

“What’s in a name?” Shakespeare wrote. “That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” Juliet was imagining a simpler life after rechristening her Romeo, but the principle would also apply if that rose were already trademarked, or the flower had a racist past, or that particular perfume reminded you of a life you’re ready to leave behind. Artists change their names for lots of reasons, but it is almost always a result of pressure — whether that be internal or external. If there’s one thing these moments of transformation have in common, it’s that they represent a pivot point for the musician — a dividing line, after which they will never be exactly the same. In that spirit of renewal, we’ve assembled a list of 10 artists who decided that another name would smell much sw...

I can’t wait to see you all and put on ...

BTS’ SUGA Remixes Coldplay Collaboration “My Universe”: Stream

Last month, Coldplay further cemented their status as one of the biggest bands active today when they collaborated with K-pop phenoms BTS on the track “My Universe.” And as if that weren’t enough, the two acts have today unveiled a remix of the song by none other than BTS’ SUGA. As expected of anything with BTS’ name attached, “My Universe” has already made history as the first No. 1 hit by two co-billed lead groups on the Billboard Hot 100. Now with rapper SUGA’s production, the kaleidoscopic tune boasts a new tropical house flair that calls to mind pool parties and beach flings — even as the temperatures outside cool down. “I’m thrilled to be able to work together with Coldplay, who I’ve admired since I was a kid, and honored to be a part of this remix,” SUGA said in a statement. Lizzo Covers BTS’ “Butter” at BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge: Watch

Lizzo’s talent for covers is well known, and during a recent visit to the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, she showed love to the biggest K-pop band on the planet. During the appearance, Lizzo tipped her hat to BTS by performing their No. 1 hit, “Butter.” While BTS’s original iteration of “Butter” is a shimmery, synth-pop jam, Lizzo tones it down a notch with a more spare crew of backup musicians and singers. Her version gives the track a retro, funky flair that wouldn’t sound out of place on a Parliament record. Before diving into “Butter,” Lizzo also performed her latest single “Rumors” sans Cardi B. You can listen to both below. Back in early 2020, the rapper/singer/flautist trifecta wowed us with a cover of her pal Harry Styles’ “Adore You” for BBC Radio 1. It came on the heels of Styles’ take...

With Third Appearance at the United Nations General Assembly, BTS Continue to Act as a Global Force For Good

In September of 2018, a 24-year old Kim Namjoon of BTS (often known by his stage name RM) stood before the United Nations General Assembly and delivered a speech in partnership with UNICEF, notecards held in shaky hands. The speech was in English, and the leader of the seven-member Korean group concluded by saying: “I have many faults and I have many more fears, but I am going to embrace myself as hard as I can, and I’m starting to love myself gradually, just little by little. What is your name? Speak yourself.” Things have changed a bit since then — BTS addressed the UN again virtually in 2020 with all the members giving remarks almost entirely in Korean; today (September 20th), all seven members (RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, V, Jimin, and Jungkook) addressed the assembly in person, and in thei...
