Miami Bitcoin Conference to Conclude With Music Festival Featuring deadmau5, Steve Aoki, More

Several of dance music’s biggest names are ready to celebrate “hyperbitcoinization” with performances to close out the upcoming Bitcoin 2022 Conference. Since the advent of Miami Music Week and Ultra Music Festival, Miami has always been a cultural hub for dance music. In even more recent times, however, the city has positioned itself as the future crypto capital of the U.S. The effort has been fostered through the leadership of Miami’s Mayor Francis Suarez, who has opted to take his own salary in Bitcoin and has facilitated the creation of Miami’s own dedicated blockchain asset, MiamiCoin. Becoming the home to the annual Bitcoin Conference, the largest celebration of the world’s most popular digital asset has proved a boon to Miami’s rep...

K.Flay Teams With Travis Barker for ‘Dating My Dad’

Alt-indie singer K. Flay partnered up with modern rocker and Blink-182 drummer, Travis Barker for her new song, “Dating My Dad.” Don’t worry, the song is not about the singer-songwriter dating her actual dad, but it’s the next closest thing. “This is basically 6 months of therapy condensed into a single song. You spend so much of your life thinking that you’re the exception,” Flay said about the track in a statement. “But at the end of the day, you’re just like everyone else — becoming a version of your parents or falling in love with one. Or both. “I wanted this song to feel playful though, because I was honestly laughing while I wrote that chorus lyric: ‘mom and dad we love em, either fuck em or become em,” she continued. “There are patterns in our lives and in our families that we can e...

K. Flay Shares ‘TGIF’ Single With Tom Morello on Guitar

K.Flay has shared “TGIF,” a tune that features none other than Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello on guitar and lyrically critiques society’s “working for the weekend” mentality. The song is off her EP Inside Voices, which is out June 11 on BMG. The EP also includes a song titled “Dating My Dad” that features Blink-182 drummer and producer Travis Barker. “So often we keep everything bottled up,” K.Flay said in a statement about her forthcoming EP. “Inside Voices was a way for me to exorcise some demons and safely express these uncomfortable but very human emotions I was feeling.” Speaking about “TGIF,” K. Flay continued, saying that she “started writing this when Donald Trump was president, a time when I felt so acutely that my government didn’t represent me, that my governme...
