Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Virgil van Dijk could make his injury comeback during the pre-season friendly against Hertha Berlin. The Reds are currently in a training camp in Austria. They have already played three games on their trip including one against Mainz that ended 1-0 on Friday. The club have three more friendlies before the new Premier League campaign, and one of those will be against Hertha on Thursday evening. Ahead of the game, Klopp said that the centre-back could make a cameo appearance after nine months out with a serious knee injury. He told Liverpoolfc.com: “I hope, I am not sure, that there is the opportunity that Virgil could play a few minutes.” “He looks really good in training and maybe we can bring [him in], but I need to have some final convers...
Jurgen Klopp wants to bring Samuel Chukwueze to Liverpool according to a report from La Razon but Everton could be the first club to make a move to sign the Villarreal ace. The 22-year-old Nigeria international is extremely highly rated and he won’t be avialble on the cheap. La Razon suggested that Chukwueze has an €80 million (£70 million) release clause. The Sun claims he could be available for around £60 million, however. Former Manchester City star Yaya Toure had fond words for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after visiting the Reds’ pre-season training session. The Ivorian legend visited the club’s training session in Saalfelden, Austria, earlier today after being invited by long-time friend Sadio Mane. Toure, who is now the coach of Russian side Akhmat Grozny, took a few pictures with Klopp and the players. He heaped praise on Klopp on social media. Great to meet coach Klopp and watch the @liverpoolfc squad training! 🙌🏾 Top manager and what a humble man, really enjoyed my time with you coach Klopp and the lads here today👍🏾 pic.twitter.com/biCcQ4uaan — Yaya Touré (@YayaToure) July 22, 2021 Toure spent eight seasons with City in the Premier League. Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Renato Sanches amidst recent links with Liverpool, when speaking on his official Youtube channel channel. L’Equipe recently claimed that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to bring the talented Portuguese midfielder to Anfield this summer. The 23-year-old’s career sparked back into life over the past 12 months after a really difficult few years. Sanchez made the huge move to Bayern Munich from Benfica in the summer of 2016 for a fee that could eventually rise to €45 million (£40.5 million), according to BBC Sport. The midfielder really struggled with the Bavarian giants, however. He spent an unsuccessful loan spell with Swansea City as well before joining Lille for around £17 million in the summer of 2019 (Bavarian Football Works). Fabrizio R...
Liverpool have had an opening bid worth €40 million (£35 million) for Saul Niguez rejected by Atletico Madrid according to a report from Mundo Deportivo. Atleti are ready to sell the Spaniard to the Reds, as covered on Sportslens earlier this week (Click here to read more). It seems as though the fee for the 26-year-old could be a big sticking point, however. Jurgen Klopp has allegedly convinced FSG to make an opening £35 million offer for the Atletico Madrid ace. Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter in reaction to links with Wolves winger Adama Traore. Football Insider claimed two days ago that the Reds have actually made an approach to sign the powerful 25-year-old. Jurgen Klopp will undoubtedly be keen to bolster his attacking ranks at Anfield this summer. On his day, Adama is an incredibly potent threat. He just hasn’t been consistent enough over the past 12 months or so. And his poor goals and assists record from last season means that Liverpool moving to sign him would be a really strange decision from Klopp. He racked up just two goals and three assists in 37 Premier League games last season. Liverpool fans really don’t want Adama Traore The general consensus is that Klopp could and should be setting his sights a lot higher than the Wolv...
Liverpool are expected to use the summer transfer window to good effect following a disappointing campaign. The Reds struggled badly last season with the squad being badly ravaged by injuries. In the end, they did manage to secure the third spot in the league, but it took them the final day to seal their fate. While Jurgen Klopp reportedly happy with the players he has got at his disposal, he is likely to make necessary changes to the squad ahead of the next season. In the previous few transfer windows, Liverpool hardly made enough signings, with Klopp relying mainly on his core group of players. It has been frustrating at times, with Klopp not being provided with a healthy transfer kitty to operate in the market. He had to resort to late signings in January when the damage was alrea...
Liverpool not only clinched the Champions League spot but also finished third in the Premier League table after a dramatic final day at Anfield. The Reds won 2-0 against Crystal Palace in Roy Hodgson’s last game for the club. Sadio Mane scored both goals as Liverpool booked a place for next season’s Champions League. With Leicester City losing 4-2 against Tottenham and Chelsea suffering a 2-1 loss against Aston Villa, the Reds jumped ahead of them on the final day. Mane looked to have got his mojo back (a bit too late) in front of fans at Anfield in a must-win game that also saw Gini Wijnaldum bidding farewell to the fans. The Dutchman got a great send-off and a guard of honour from his teammates, as he ends a memorable chapter of his life at Merseyside. Georginio Wijnaldum gets a gre...
The past few weeks have been one of the most unsettling phases in the footballing sphere. The so-called traditional big-six made a failed attempt to break away from the existing system and tried to form a new league. The avaricious nature of the club owners sparked massive reactions among the fans which eventually led them to backtrack from their original plans. Last week, Liverpool’s visit to Old Trafford dominated the headlines, despite the game being called off, and nobody cared about the top-four race. A section of Manchester United supporters demonstrated a protest against the Glazer family’s ownership. The supporters’ group entered the stadium and police officers were injured in combat. The likes of Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville urged supporters to unite in pro...
Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group has rejected a £3bn offer from the Middle East to sell. The offer was made to FSG prior to the announcement on Sunday night that principal owner John W. Henry had been involved in talks to take Liverpool into the ill-fated European Super League, reports the Mirror. Following anger aimed at FSG in the wake of the failed Super League plot there are other potential bidders waiting in the wings to see if the stance of Henry and Liverpool chairman Tom Werner changes as a result of the enormous criticism they face. FSG took charge of Liverpool in 2010, buying the club for around £300m to end the reign of the deeply unpopular Tom Hicks and George Gillett at Anfield, the American duo having left the Reds on a financial cliff edge by the time their exit arrived....
