Rivers government hands over 24 duplexes to judges
Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has handed over some finished blocks of duplexes to accommodate Judges in the state. Governor Wike also announced that N150 million has also been handed to Judges who opted for cash payments to build their own houses. The Governor made the announcement during the commissioning of the judges’ apartment in GRA, Port Harcourt. Kano chief judge appoints Abdullahi Ado-Bayero as acting chief registrar
The Kano State Chief Judge, Justice Nura Sagir, has approved the appointment of Abdullahi Ado-Bayero, as the acting Chief Registrar of Kano High Court. Mr Baba Jibo-Ibrahim, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Kano State Judiciary, made the disclosure in a statement issued to newsmen on Monday in Kano. Oyo judiciary releases names of vacation judges
As the Oyo State judiciary commences its annual vacation, on Wednesday, based on the provisions of the High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2010 and other enabling laws, the placement of area of operations for vacation judges has been released for judges that have shown an intention to work during the vacation so that there won’t be a vacuum for time-bound cases. Speaker of Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Mr Aniekan Bassey, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari, for signing into law Executive Order No. 10, of 2020. The law is for the implementation of Financial Autonomy of State Legislature and State Judiciary. Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, has expressed deep shock over the death of the State Chief Judge, Justice Garba Nabaruma who died yesterday at the National Hospital, Abuja. Court convicts 717 for lockdown violation in Kano
The Kano mobile courts have convicted 717 persons for violating the subsisting lockdown order in the state in the last 4 days. Kano has 11 mobile courts that were inaugurated by Kano Chief Judge, Justice Nura Sagir to sit in various parts of the state to enforce the lock down order recently. Baba Jibo Ibrahim, Spokesman, Kano State judiciary, told newsmen in Kano that from Sunday 3 May to Wednesday 6 May 2020, the 717 offenders were arraigned and convicted for violating the lock order, disclosing that there were those sentenced to rendering community services, payment od fines and those who received strokes of cane as punishment.
