Lagos NUJ mourns veteran journalist Tony Momoh

Mr Adeleye Ajayi, the State NUJ Chairman said this in a statement in Lagos on Tuesday. The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has said it received with rude shock the demise of the former Chairman and Publisher of Leadership Newspapers, Sam Nda-Isaiah, and asked the federal government to immortalise him. Nda-Isaiah, a former presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) died on Friday night after a brief illness. The Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande, has said only good governance will silence social media from its criticism of government. Professor Akande said the agitation against the social media because of criticism of government through the medium will not stop such criticism, saying when government performs well, the social media is bound to respond positively. “When government performs well, the social media is abuzz with praises for the government. NUJ calls for Sheikh Gumi’s arrest
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), on Friday, called for the arrest of Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, for saying journalists are criminals for calling bandits criminals. The union expressed reservation on Gumi’s remarks during an interview on Arise TV on Wednesday where he labelled journalists as criminals for calling bandits criminals.
