Police arrest Rivers council chair over ‘link’ with slain gang leader

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested the Chairman of Gokana Local Government Chairman, Honourable Paul Vidag Kobani, over the alleged link with the late notorious leader of a criminal gang which operated in the Ogoni communities of the State, Honest Diigbara, aka Boboski. Boboski, who had N30 million ransom on his head was arrested by the Police over weekend. Acting on a tip-off, a team of policemen with the support of the local vigilance group had traced Boboski to a wake keep ceremony where he was arrested alongside his deputy, who was identified to be his immediate younger brother after a gunfire exchange with the police. Police commence arms mop-up in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has directed Commanders of all Tactical Units to commence arms mop-up exercise across the state. Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Joseph Mukan in a statement, said the decision to carry out the arms mop-up was in line with the directive by the Inspector General of Police rid the country of illegal possession of firearms. Mukan also directed the Commanders and Divisional Police Officers, DPOs to enlighten local security outfits in their areas of operations. Police detain inspector accused of raping widow over face mask

Police Inspector Peter Ibah who accused of raping a 23 years old widow after arresting her for not wearing a face mask and three of his colleagues has been arrested and are undergoing investigation by the detectives of Rivers State Command over the allegation. The accused was interviewed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nnamdi Omoni, in the presence of his accuser and witnessed by journalists. Police ask Governor Wike to handover ex-NDDC chief

Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan, has called on Governor Nyesom Wike to handover former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Joy Nunieh, to him. On Thursday, July 17, 2020, Governor Wike stopped police operatives from arresting Nunieh from her residence. The governor, who argued that the police had no arrest warrant, thereafter took Nunieh under protective custody in Government House, Port Harcourt. Family indicts vigilance group over missing man in Rivers

Family members of a missing 22-year-old man, Arinze Obiukwu, are asking the Rivers State Police Command to put pressure on a local vigilance group popularly known as OSPAC in Elele Ikwerre Local Government Area to produce him dead or alive. The elder brother of the missing man, Ifeanyi Obiukwu, said Arinze was arrested on the 27th of April 2020 by members of the vigilance group and efforts to reach him or secure his bail has proved abortive since then.
