Disney Adds More Quarters to Bring Tron 3 with Jared Leto Back to Life

Tron 3 looked like it had ran out of lives after eight years in development hell, but Disney has decided to add more quarters. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, a concept starring Jared Leto is back in the game with veteran Disney director Joachim Rønning (Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) at the helm. Titled Tron: Ares, the film is said to be a sequel to 2011’s Tron: Legacy, itself a long-in-the-works follow-up to the 1982 special effects pioneer, Tron. The threequel has been bandied about since at least 2015, Leto became linked to the project back in 2017, and in 2020 it came close to happening with director Garth Davis. Now, Disney will try again. So far, no cast members from the previous Tron film...

Jared Leto Made Morbius Crew Wait While Using Fake Crutches to Go to Bathroom

Jared Leto’s commitment to method acting has wreaked havoc on another movie set. In an interview with Uproxx, Morbius director Daniel Espinosa confirmed the actor was so determined to stay in character that he used his crutches to go to the bathroom, slowing down production so much that the crew instead opted to push him to the bathroom in a wheelchair. Leto’s character, known as the Living Vampire, suffers from a rare blood disease that affects his movement. In the interview, a tight-lipped Espinosa — who does his best to keep his head held high despite the film’s terrible reviews — defended Leto’s decision to use the crutches on set, arguing that it helped the actor really understand the pain his character lives with. “I think that what Jared thinks, what Jared believes, is tha...

Morbius Review: Maybe It’s Time for Sony to Give Marvel Back Its Toys

The Pitch: The first trailer for Morbius, the newest effort by Sony Pictures to hold onto the Marvel characters to which it still owns the rights, originally premiered in January 2020, in anticipation of its planned July 2020 premiere. That premiere didn’t happen for, y’know, reasons, but in the literal years since, new trailers for the film have continued to appear online and in theaters, with one of them buttoned by a reasonably funny joke: Its central character, in full monster face, growling “I… am… Venom!” at a thug, then abruptly shifting to a smile to say, “I’m just kidding! Dr. Michael Morbius, at your service.” That moment didn’t just name-drop a previous Sony/Marvel collaboration, but showcased a clever reversal on expectations, not to mention star Jared Leto doling out some very...

Jared Leto’s Morbius Delayed Yet Again

It’s starting to feel like this vampire will never see the light of day. As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Jared Leto’s Spider-Man spinoff Morbius has been delayed yet again, with the January 28th release date pushed back to April 1st. Morbius was originally slated for July 31st, 2020, although the COVID-19 pandemic scuttled those plans. The eternal optimists at Sony had initially rescheduled the movie for March 19th, 2021, before giving up on last year and sinking their teeth into January 2022. Now, with the Omicron variant leading to record case counts, they’re going to try again on April Fool’s Day, which is probably a coincidence, right? It’s not a years-long practical joke because this movie exists, right? They released a trailer and then a second trailer, so i...

Jared Leto’s House of Gucci Method Acting Involved “Snorting Lines of Arrabbiata Sauce”

Jared Leto is a proud method actor who often goes to bizarre and uncomfortable lengths to portray a particular role. He gained nearly 70 pounds in order to play Mark David Chapman in Chapter 27, and after being cast as the Joker in Suicide Squad he tormented his fellow cast members by mailing them live rats and bullets. For his latest role, Leto portrays fashion designer and business magnate Paolo Gucci in Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci. In an interview with i-D, Leto detailed how he got into character, which involved “snorting lines of arrabbiata sauce.” “I did it all. I was snorting lines of arrabbiata sauce by the middle of this movie. I had olive oil for b...
