Hold onto your beakers, the 1963 original version of The Nutty Professor, starring comedy legend Jerry Lewis, is getting a reboot. According to Deadline, the forthcoming film will be produced by the same team behind Scream 5 — that’s Project X folks James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein. In the 1963 sci-fi comedy, Lewis played the role of nerdy chemistry professor Julius Kelp, who, thanks to a magic potion, is transformed into a Casanova-like character named Buddy Love. Sheriff Dewey Riley will escape the clutches of death yet again. Well, hopefully. According to Deadline, David Arquette has signed on to reprise his iconic role in the forthcoming Scream reboot from Radio Silence and Spyglass Media Group. “I am thrilled to be playing Dewey again and to reunite with my Scream family, old and new,” Arquette shared. “Scream has been such a big part of my life, and for both the fans and myself, I look forward to honoring Wes Craven’s legacy.” Editors’ Picks Arquette starred in all four of the Scream films, clumsily surviving each one.
