NOA sensitises Oyo residents ahead of council election

File Photo The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has embarked on sensitisation of residents of some local government areas in Oyo State, ahead of the May 22 council elections. Newsmen report that the programme was tagged: “Voter education and mobilisation campaign towards free, fair, peaceful and credible local government elections.’’ NAN also reports that the exercise, led by the NOA Director in the state, Mrs Folake Ayoola, took the agency to Ibarapa, Ogbomoso, Iseyin and Egbeda local government areas of the state. Other council areas, which had earlier been visited, included: Ibadan North, Ido, Ibadan South-West, Ibadan South-East, Ibadan North-East and Ibadan North-West council areas. CP: Six policemen killed, five stations razed in Oyo

The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Chucks Enwonwu, has said six policemen were killed while five police stations were burnt by hoodlums during the violence that trailed the #EndSARS protest on the state. The CP, who said this at a press briefing in Ibadan on Wednesday, said nine suspects were however arrested in connection with arson and looting in Iseyin, in the Iseyin Local Government Area of the state. The suspected were paraded before journalists at the briefing. Enwonwu, who bemoaned the killing of policemen, said some of them were roasted like goats for committing no offence against their attackers. Oyo deputy governor empowers 500 youths with farmland

The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Mr Rauf Olaniyan, has donated 250 acres of land in Oyo North to youths for cassava cultivation. The Coordinator of Oke-Ogun Green Revolution, Mr Bola Olalere, announced the donation in a statement in Iseyin on Tuesday. Oyo judiciary releases names of vacation judges

As the Oyo State judiciary commences its annual vacation, on Wednesday, based on the provisions of the High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2010 and other enabling laws, the placement of area of operations for vacation judges has been released for judges that have shown an intention to work during the vacation so that there won’t be a vacuum for time-bound cases.
