Governor Wike: Rivers government to replace properties destroyed by IPOB members

Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers says his administration will replace all the properties allegedly destroyed by members of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) during the #EndSARS protest in parts of Rivers. Wike, who made this known on Monday in a statement by his Media Aide, Mr Kelvin Ebiri, expressed regrets that the damage done during the protest left a huge financial burden on the state. Group condemns Nnamdi Kanu for urging IPOB members to attack security operatives

The group, in a statement signed by its National President, Dr Edwin Ogbu, on Friday urged relevant authorities to take proactive action to avoid a breakdown in law and order. Recall that the Department of State Services (DSS) had said that two of its operatives were killed on Sunday in a clash with IPOB members in Enugu State. IPOB warns Nigerian government to stop harassment of members

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Thursday, told the Federal Government to halt “the incessant harassment and arrest of its members and their families in South-East.” It also called on South-East and South-South governors, particularly Ebonyi State government, to prevail on the security agents in their states to release IPOB and their family members, particularly its Ebonyi State Coordinator, Mazi Igwe Ogbonnaya, without further delay. MASSOB urge police to release arrested members

MASSOB’s National Director of Information, Sunday Okereafor, who condemned the mass arrest of the movement’s members, said they did no wrong and did not deserve to be apprehended by the police.
