They also requested that the company provide more transparency about their relationship with law enforcement going forward. Social media platform Instagram is set to introduce a number of nonfungible token (NFT)-related tools that will allow creators to mint, show and sel NFTs. Instagram parent company Meta said on Nov. 2 during its Creator Week 2022 event that the platform would allow its creators to make “digital collectibles” and sell them “both on and off Instagram.” Meta says creators will have an “end-to-end toolkit” from creating, showing, then selling NFTs within the platform and has chosen the Polygon (MATIC) blockchain as an initial partner for this functionality. HipHopWired Featured Video Source: NurPhoto / Getty Social media companies have been taking a lot of Ls lately. Elon Musk is doing his best to ruin Twitter, and now Instagram, the former photo-sharing app turned into a TikTok clone, suffered a massive outage. Instagram users were met with a massive outage on Monday, Oct. 31, that the company has since resolved, but it had many panicking. While outages usually mean timelines won’t refresh or you won’t be able to post your latest selfie or reel you saved from your TikTok account, this one was different. Users fired up their Instagram apps only to be locked out of their accounts and greeted with this message, “We suspended your account on October 31, 2022.” Per The Verge, the issue seemed to be generally experienced by iPhone users, with some...

The United Kingdom’s independent advertising regulator has upheld a complaint involving former reality show Love Island contestants Eve and Jessica Gale for “triviali[zing] investment in cryptocurrency.” In a Wednesday notice, the U.K. Advertising Standards Authority, or ASA, said the reality stars promoted crypto in an Instagram story in June at the request of an influencer named Elizabeth O’Donell and upheld claims the ad was “misleading” and “irresponsible.” According to the regulator, O’Donell was not only providing trading crypto advice — as the Gales’ stories claimed — but promoting investing in cryptocurrencies without illustrating the possible risks. “We therefore considered the ads were addressed to a general audience who were unlikely to have any specialist knowledge ...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Peacock / Getty Will Smith was one of the most active major stars to use social media as a means to connect with their massive fanbase. After a short break, presumably due in part to the slap heard around the world, the rapper turned actor returned to Instagram sharing a humorous post. Will Smith, 52, previously used Instagram to hawk one of his various media adventures, poke fun at himself, and flex some of his comedic muscles with feel-good content across his feed. However, Smith found himself out of favor with many after he slapped Chris Rock during a live taping of The Oscars. After sharing an apology video surrounding the incident late last month, Smith has made sparse appearances in public as he worked on the issues behind the scenes. Related Storie...
