Russia has issued an arrest warrant for Leonid Volkov, a close ally of poisoned Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, according to a media report. Mr Volkov had been organising protests from his base in Lithuania to demand the release of the opposition leader, who was detained last month as he entered Russia. A protest was planned for this Sunday, with Mr Volkov urging people to gather near their homes and light candles in heart shapes to flood social media. “You will raise your phone flashlights – and someone, maybe, will bring candles – and form a heart shape with them.. You will take a picture of it from above, from one of the apartments, and post it on Instagram,” he wrote in a Facebook post promoting the demonstration. “Hollyboob” Stunt Was Actually a Statement Against Instagram’s Censorship

On Monday, a group of people climbed up and altered the iconic Hollywood sign to read “Hollyboob”. All six of them were subsequently arrested and charged with misdemeanor trespassing, but their stunt wasn’t for naught. As it turns out, the feat wasn’t a pointless prank like the 2017 “Hollyweed” hi-jink, but a statement against Instagram’s censorship of sex workers. The person who organized the caper is a woman named Julia Rose, the founder and CEO of an adult website called Shagmag, which boasts the description “Playboy’s hotter, younger sister” on its website. In an interview with Vice, Rose explained that both her personal Instagram account and the official Shagmag account were recently suspended from the app for nudity. The “Hollyboob” maneuver was an elaborate way t...

WhatsApp delays data sharing change after backlash

WhatsApp on Friday postponed a data-sharing change as users concerned about privacy fled the Facebook-owned messaging service and flocked to rivals Telegram and Signal. The smartphone app, a huge hit across the world, cancelled its February 8 deadline for accepting an update to its terms concerning sharing data with Facebook, saying it would use the pause to clear up misinformation around privacy and security. “We’ve heard from so many people how much confusion there is around our recent update,” WhatsApp said in a blog post. “This update does not expand our ability to share data with Facebook.” It said it would instead “go to people gradually to review the policy at their own pace before new business options are available on May 15.” The update concerns how merchants using WhatsApp to cha...

Donald Trump’s iPhone Is A Brick After Broad Social Media Ban, Right-Wing Cesspool Parler Shut Down

Source: NurPhoto / Getty Donald Trump has been effectively silenced. After years of gaslighting and racism, the final straw was Donald Trump inciting a coup on the U.S. Capitol for social media companies to say enough is enough. Following the failed act of insurrection, Twitter first suspended Trump’s Twitter account for 12 hours and removed Tweets, including a video in which he continued to push the lie that the election was stolen from him. Mark Zuckerberg took things even further, announcing that Facebook and Instagram banned the liar-in-chief indefinitely. Subsequently, following an open letter from our forever First Lady Michelle Obama calling for all social media companies to take action and give Trump the boot from their services, Jack and his company did it and permanently banned T...

To every Facebook and Twitter employee, user and advocate who fought for this—the entire world thanks you!” Cohen’s investment in the censorship of Trump didn’t start yesterday. The 49-year-old comedian has...

As such, he will not be allowed to post or share any new content on either of the platforms. This is a continuation of the temporary block that Facebook put in place on January 6th after Trump posted messages encouraging his supporters to storm th...
