In the midst of a prolific year, surging house music producer HUGEL is back yet again with a new single, “Tamo Loco.” Created in collaboration with global reggaeton stars Lorna and Jenn Morel, “Tamo Loco” only serves to further solidify HUGEL’s presence in the Latin house scene. And it’s destined to dominate dancefloors and entrance audiences all summer long. HUGEL teamed up with Panamanian reggaeton singer Lorna and Dominican-American rapper Jenn Morel for the playful vocals of “Tamo Loco.” Morel sets the tone with powerful bars, which complement Lorna’s staccato voice throughout the track as HUGEL produces crisp drums and sultry, crescendoing bassline. Add in some sax and you’re left with a sexy and irresistible dance beat. Si...

Matroda has returned to Insomniac Records for a new two-track offering called When We Were Young / Gimme Some Keys. Instead of his quirky yet menacing bass house sound, the release shows a deeper, more nuanced Matroda. He goes the progressive route with “When We Were Young,” producing a hypnotic slow-burner that marries the nostalgic vocal production of Eric Prydz with the mesmeric deep house sound design of Lane 8. “Gimme Some Keys” explores more familiar sonic territory for longtime fans of Matroda with a club-driven tech house bomb. With his innovative approach to production, the Croatian house music luminary has solidified himself as one of the most supported DJs in the dance music scene in recent years. He snagged the #25 spot in the li...
Phoenix-based producer Ekonovah offers his latest two-track EP, The Beginning, via Insomniac Records’ In / Rotation imprint. Following his mission to influence the electronic music scene with a new sound, his EP pushes the boundaries of house music with a unique and refreshing spin. Titular track, “The Beginning,” delivers blissfully inspiring lyrics, a crunchy bassline, and distorted synths, while “Iris” throws down with a groovy house beat. “‘The Beginning’ is a song about self-love and knowing that you are great, but at the same time understanding that there is always room for improvement,” the beatmaker says in a press statement. “Conversely, ‘Iris’ shows the other side of myself – a track constructed fo...

Hotfire reminisces on his early years in music while paying tribute to his best friend with his new EP, Think Back. The producer has released his second EP of 2020 as an ode to his former Hotfire sidekick, Eric Yandall, who passed away last year. Hotfire’s latest effort leans into experimental bass house, stylistically taking himself back in time to the roots of his career, which were spent making tracks in the garage with Yandall without a care in the world. Hotfire kicks things off with “Burn The Ground,” which boasts a weighty, gyrating bass lead. Broken up by ominous chords and sharp vocal chops, Hotfire leads things off with his heaviest flavors first. Things take a different turn however, with the EP’s title track, which takes to a more uplifting tone. W...
Last year, mau5trap and Insomniac Records collaborated on their first compilation, which featured the likes of Golf Clap, MASTERIA, Dustycloud, and many more. Just over a year later, the EDM titans have joined forces once more for their second volume, mau5trap x Insomniac Records. As most would expect, the firepower on this compilation is just as impressive as the previous one. Both mau5trap and Insomniac Records have solidified their positions as tastemaker labels and this compilation proves why. The diversity throughout all 12 tracks is unmatched, showcasing the vast array of talents these two imprints can gather. Tommy Trash‘s “4U” is as dark and grimy as they come, mixing crawling synths with crunchy basslines for a stunning single. No Mana&...
Biscits has returns to his familiar home of Solotoko and Insomniac Records to drop an enticing new house single, “From The Start.” Biscits sought to put a modern twist on MSTRKRFT and John Legend‘s piano-driven collaboration “Heartbreaker,” which is now more than a decade old. Biscits builds “From The Start” slow as enamored vocals and subtle background risers take the initial spotlight. The track gradually leads up to a chorus of tapered house drums while introducing a twangy pluck bass lead and pitched down vocals. The combination results in what can only be described as an irresistibly groovy, lounge-style drop. Biscits recently employed “From The Start” to set the tone for his recent Diplo & Friends appearance, un...
