Ministry have expanded their spring 2022 US Tour with Melvins and Corrosion of Conformity, adding 13 more dates to the trek. Concerts have been added in the following cities: Columbus, Ohio; Pittsburgh; Cincinnati; New Haven, Connecticut; Portland, Maine; Raleigh, North Carolina; Asheville, North Carolina; Nashville; New Orleans; Austin, Texas; Milwaukee; Kansas City, Missouri; and Oklahoma City. Industrial legends Ministry are back with their 15th studio album, Moral Hygiene. The new LP comes three-and-a-half years after the band’s 2018 effort, AmeriKKKant, and once again features frontman Al Jourgensen delivering incendiary diatribes on the state of the world. Ministry offered up the first taste of the album a year-and-a-half ago, when they released the scorching single “Alert Level” at the beginning of the pandemic. The band followed that up this past summer with the single “Good Trouble,” a tribute to late politician and Civil Rights activist John Lewis. Elsewhere, Moral Hygiene includes a collaboration with former Dead Kennedys frontman Jello Biafra on the song “Sabotage Is Sex.” Jourgensen and Biafra previously teamed up in the side project Lard, with the Ministry frontman re...
Uniform have unveiled the music video for “The Shadow of God’s Hand” ahead of their upcoming fall US tour with Portrayal of Guilt and Body Void. The track hails from Uniform’s excellent 2020 offering, Shame — one of our top heavy albums of the year. The video was directed by John Bradburn and evokes singer Michael Berdan’s intensely personal backstory regarding the song. “The central theme behind ‘The Shadow of God’s Hand’ are the inherent contradictions present in conventional Christianity,” Berdan explained via a press release. “I was brought up with this idea of ‘act right or you’re going to hell.’ I’ve listened to family members as they worried themselves to tears over the fate of a loved one’s soul.” Advertisement Related Video He continued: “To me, the concept of a punitive God ...
Rammstein singer Till Lindemann was questioned by Russian police prior to the cancellation of a music festival in the city of Tver. Lindemann was booked to play the festival, which reportedly would have violated COVID-19 protocols. Exaggerated reports circulated this weekend claiming that Lindemann had been arrested by police. Rather, police only visited the Rammstein singer’s hotel on Saturday night. According to German newspaper Bild (via DW), the purpose of the meeting was to make sure Lindemann complied with COVID regulations while performing in Tver. Ultimately, the event was canceled outright. However, Lindemann’s manager, Anar Reiband, does face charges after allegedly violating Russia’s migration laws. When initially entering the country, Reiband apparently claimed the purpose...
Ministry have unveiled a cover of The Stooges‘ “Search and Destroy” as the latest single from their upcoming album, Moral Hygiene. Frontman Al Jourgensen and company put an industrial stamp on the proto-punk classic. The track features a guest spot by Billy Idol guitarist Billy Morrison, and the decision to cover the tune was inspired by a performance at a benefit show in 2019. “We rehearsed it and the song was perfect but the show was running late and by the time we got onstage, I was in half time and singing the lyrics twice as slow,” explained Jourgensen in a press release. “Fortunately Billy and Dave Navarro are professionals and they realized what was going on and sort of covered for me but I felt horrible. Billy thought it actually sounded really good in half-time so he came to me wi...
Ministry have announced their new album Moral Hygiene, arriving October 1st. In advance of its release, the industrial legends have unveiled the new single “Good Trouble.” Frontman Al Jourgensen wrote the band’s politically charged 15th studio LP amidst the election cycle and the pandemic. Like 2018’s AmeriKKKant, Jourgensen’s progressive views are once again upfront and unabashed. For example, the latest single “Good Trouble” was inspired by the work of the late congressman John Lewis and the Black Lives Matter protests. Jourgensen remarked that the past year of relative idleness during the pandemic allowed him to observe the social and political turmoil with a bird’s eye view. This resulted in tracks like the anthemic “Alert Level” — the album opener that was released in 2020. Related Vi...

The band, led by Manuel Gagneux, has earned well-deserved buzz for its first two albums, showcasing a unique sound that combines extreme metal with traditional slave spirituals. The band’s last LP, Stranger Fruit, landed on Heavy Consequence’s list of the Top 25 Metal + Hard Rock Albums of 2018, while the tune “Gravedigger’s Chant” made our decade list of the Top 25 Metal Songs of the 2010s. No further album details have been announced, but first single “Run” features Zeal & Ardor at their most extre...

For the second year in a row, the industrial-metal veterans have postponed the stadium outing, with a new itinerary now set for 2022. Originally, Rammstein were set to stage their first-ever full stadium tour of North America in 2020, but that was postponed due to the pandemic and initially rescheduled for this year. While a number of bands have recently announced summer and fall outings, there are still restrictions in place for European acts who want to tour in the States. Thus, Rammstein aren’t taking any chances, inst...

The announcement is certainly great news for dedicated fans, as its one of the premiere North American fests representing the industrial, darkwave, and noise genres. The veteran industrial band will have a significantly different look the next time they hit the road, having recently announced a drummer change, as well. In January 2020, an investigative report by Spin told the stories of two women, one named Kelly Longoria and another who chose to remain unidentified. Longoria maintained that she met Quirin (then a member of the industrial band Society 1) in 2002 when she was 15 years old, and that the two had sex several times while she was still a...

Over six years later, in September 2020, the Russian government charged Andrei Borovikov with “production and distribution of pornography” for posting the video on a Russian social media site Vkontakte, according to Amnesty International UK. Borovikov calls the charges “utterly absurd,” claiming that he’s been targeted for being a former coordinator for Aleksei Navalny, the jailed political rival of Vladimir Putin. A former volunteer at Borovikov’s office reported the video to authorities, who ordere...
<span class="localtime" data-ltformat="F j, Y | g:ia" data-lttime="2021-04-23T20:06:03+00:00“>April 23, 2021 | 4:06pm ET A Rammstein fan with a lot of time and creativity on his hands has designed a Lego set based on the band’s massive stadium stage, and he has the industrial metal outfit’s seal of approval. The design is competing for consideration as part of the Lego Ideas initiative, with Rammstein urging their fans to vote on the project. It’s not the first time a notable music act’s stage setup has been in consideration for a Lego set. Last year, we reported on an entrant who submitted a design for an elaborate Tool stage, complete with awesome figurines of the band’s four members. Another contender presented a similar idea for Daft Punk. Whi...
