ILLENIUM has revealed the full lineup for his much-anticipated three-day event at the Paradisus Cancun resort in December. And needless to say, Ember Shores is set to be unforgettable. While ILLENIUM will of course be performing all three days at Ember Shores, the EDM star also has a slew of incredible talent from multiple genres in tow. Among the bass music acts to appear are Big Gigantic, Said The Sky, Blunts & Blondes, Wooli, and of course the world’s G.O.D. (Greatest Opening DJ), Fury with MC Dino. Outside the scope of bass music, Ember Shores will also see performances from Elephante, Cosmic Gate, Jason Ross, 3LAU, Golf Clap, HALIENE, Dr. Fresch, and OTR, covering all bases from deep house to trance. ILLENIUM‘s latest super-collab could end up being his biggest to date. The famed Fallen Embers producer dropped a brand new alt-rock and EDM crossover featuring 30 Seconds to Mars at the Las Vegas music festival Life Is Beautiful over the weekend. Tentatively titled “Wouldn’t Change a Thing,” the uplifting track is rife with the warm synths and soaring strings of a signature ILLENIUM composition. After videos of the song’s debut began to circulate on Twitter, it wasn’t long before ILLENIUM slid in to confirm the collab with a tweet of his own: “I promised to play some new new this weekend,” he wrote. While ILLENIUM stopped short of announcing a release date for “Wouldn’t Change a Thing,” it seems the tune will hit strea...
After the most tumultuous year in the event’s history, EDC Las Vegas is set to return to Sin City for its most memorable music festival to date. Considering its influence as a major boon to the city’s economy, EDC essentially takes over the city and annually transforms it into an electronic dance music oasis for a week. And after a lost year—marred by a controversial postponement and explosive backlash from fans contrived by the impact of COVID-19—Insomniac founder Pasquale Rotella’s efforts to plan an unforgettable experience are but a foregone conclusion. Earlier this year, the organizers of Ottawa’s renowned Escapade music festival decided that the event’s rescheduled dates in mid-June 2021 were too soon to host a safe event, thus determining a fall postponement would be the best course of action. Initially, the newly slated dates were September 3rd to 5th, offering a three-day experience. However, due to “ongoing changes and COVID restrictions,” Escapade ultimately scrapped its Friday launch and pushed it one day, truncating the fest to just September 4th and 5th. Despite the change, there is still much to celebrate for fans of Escapade thanks to its massive lineup. While the full bill is yet to be released, so far it includes The Chainsmokers, ILLENIUM, Jauz, and Claude Vonstroke, among others. You...
For most artists, a headlining set at Lollapalooza would mark a career highlight. But for ILLENIUM, it’s just par for the course. That’s not to say his performance wasn’t special, though. Hot on the heels of his historic “Trilogy” show in Las Vegas, which was a watershed moment in his career, ILLENIUM appeared on Lollapalooza’s Bud Light Seltzer Stage to perform a bubbly set (get it?) for his diehard fanbase. The show doubled as a homecoming for the bass music superstar, who was born in Chicago prior to a move to San Francisco. What can be said about this performance that hasn’t been said about ILLENIUM’s other 2021 shows? In what has been a remarkable year for the Fallen Embers producer, he seems to deliver unforgettable ...
“I’ve been replaying this moment over and over for months and it’s so much better than I could have imagined,” singer-songwriter Lauv proclaimed from the Lollapalooza main stage. It was a sentiment heard over and over again at the music festival’s 2021 edition, the first large-scale event to return in Chicago at full capacity in the pandemic era. For precisely that reason, the festival garnered a level of national attention unseen in recent years. Given the heightened visibility, artists were particularly eager to put their best foot forward for their loyal fans while also seizing the opportunity to reach new ears by embracing the element of surprise. It was a picture-perfect weekend in Chicago, and between the star-studded lineup, refreshing froze...
“It’s definitely been a fucking journey,” said ILLENIUM just before stepping on stage for his momentous “Trilogy” show last month. After three album installments and five years of a distinct creative vision, the world-class electronic artist was preparing to move on. But first, he decided to plan a party—and a big one at that—touching down in Sin City for a massive concert at Allegiant Stadium. Documenting the journey from ILLENIUM’s Colorado studio to the stadium stage is a new short film by longtime members of the producer’s photography and videography team. Directed, shot and edited by Nainoa Langer, with additional footage by David Nguyen, the documentary blends bittersweet nostalgia with overwhelming euphoria in engaging c...
This past weekend Global Dance Festival reemerged in Colorado in spectacular fashion. It was a magical weekend full of energy, impeccable production, and fans who were clearly ready to dance. Based in the progressive arts hub of Denver, Colorado, the two-day festival took place on July 23rd and 24th, hosting tens of thousands of fans, four stages, over 57 performers, art installations, and more. As people from all over the country arrived in Denver, Global Dance kicked the weekend off with a stellar array of pre-parties, including a massive one at Temple Nightclub headlined by SNBRN, who threw down while flanked by the venue’s stupefying LED panels that stretch up a near 100-foot wall. Just over two weeks ago ILLENIUM shook the dance music world with the release of his highly anticipated fourth album, Fallen Embers. While that in and of itself was a lot for his fans to process, they’ve now been gifted a high-profile remix from NGHTMRE, who took on ILLENIUM’s collaboration with Matt Maeson, “Heavenly Side.” While ILLENIUM’s original is much more stripped back with a heavy emphasis on guitar and Maeson’s vocals, NGHTMRE’s rendition represents a significant departure. Bright keys welcome listeners in before heavily processed vocals give way to an explosion of colorful, bright synths that fill the air with a euphoric thwack. You can listen to NGHTMRE’s remix of “Heavenly Side” here and listen below. R...
There’s commitment, and then there’s holding up your phone camera for well over an hour to record a DJ set by three of EDM’s biggest stars for the world to enjoy. That’s exactly what an intrepid YouTuber did over the weekend at Denver’s Global Dance Festival over the weekend, and EDM fans couldn’t be happier to relive the epic set performed by ILLENIUM, Said The Sky, and Dabin—or catch it for the very first time. The recording offers great quality and the entire tracklist of the superstar trio’s DJ set from last weekend, despite some moments where “a couple of girls were screaming obnoxiously in some parts of the set,” according to the user. Most viewers are willing to look past that to hear ILLENIUM, Said The S...
