Lagos shuts airport bridge indefinitely

The Lagos State Government on Sunday announced the closure of the Airport Bridge at Toyota on Oshodi/Isolo Expressway indefinitely. This follows the inferno that recently occurred on the Apapa Oshodi Expressway as a result of a PMS loaded tanker exploding in a fireball from collision with another truck, with the structure of the Airport Bridge at Toyota on Oshodi/Isolo Expressway has been affected. “The bridge therefore has to be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic movement to enable the State Government conduct structural engineering tests on the bridge,” said Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde. Lagos seals 15 hotels for environmental violations

For violating environmental rules in some parts of Lagos State, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency LASEPA, Friday, sealed 15 hotels across the state. Some of the facilities are SkyLounge nightclub, at 10, Dayo Adeniji Street, New Oko-Oba, Agege; a residential building at 208 Ikorodu Road; CIRCA Food/Restaurant, located at 12A Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase I and New Hotel at 40, Ekoro Road, Abule Egba, Lagos. Third Mainland Bridge: We’re observing traffic situation – commissioner

Getty Images Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Frederic Oladeinde, has said the true test of road user compliance with the partial closure of the Third Mainland Bridge would be accessed on Monday. Oladeinde made this disclosure Saturday in a chat with newsmen while he monitored traffic situation on the bridge. FRSC alerts motorists on imminent diversion on Lagos 3rd mainland bridge

The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, says diversion and safety precaution are imminent, owing to the emergency rehabilitation on the third mainland bridge in Lagos. In a statement issued by the FRSC Public Education Officer (CPEO), Mr Bisi Kazeem, on Wednesday in Abuja, Oyeyemi said that the bridge would be partially closed for three months for the first phase of the job. Newsmen report that the Federal Government had announced plans to shut down the third mainland bridge for maintenance work from July 24 to Jan. 24, 2021. The first phase of the project covers the rehabilitation of the Oworonshoki bound lanes.
