Ekiti government summons monarchs over killings in community

The Ekiti State Government on Friday summoned the Ogoga of Ikere, Oba Adejimi Adu and the Olukere, Oba Ganiyu Obasoyin over the cult-related killings in Ikere town in Ikere Local Government Area of the state. It would be recalled that six persons were reported killed last month in a rival cult clash in the town. The Council authority on Wednesday imposed 6pm to 6am curfew following the killings of two persons on Tuesday by suspected cultists in the town. The Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, warned that there should be no meeting on either side that can cause tension in the town. #EndSARS: Police parade two minors, four others for arson

Two minors and four other suspects were paraded on Monday by police in Ekiti State in connection with arson attacks on three police stations in the State. Suspected hoodlums had last week attacked two Divisional Police Stations and the Area Command office in Ikere Ekiti, Ikere Ekiti Local Government Area in the wake of the #EndSARS protests. Ekiti court imposes N40,000 fine on man for not wearing face mask

An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court in Ekiti State has fined a man, Ikechukwu Vincent, N40,000 for contravening the order on the use of face mask in the state. It will be recalled that governors in South-West agreed on mandatory use of face masks by residents as part of measures in containing the spread of coronavirus. Director of Public Prosecutions in the state, Julius Ajibare, told the court that the suspect committed the offence on Friday around Fajuyi park in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
