Fashionable music icons Iggy Pop, A$AP Rocky and Tyler, The Creator are the stars of a new Gucci ad campaign shot by Kids and Spring Breakers director Harmony Korine. The spots were shot in pre-pandemic February and are airing now. The artists, with their distinctive looks, dance around in a West Coast home in their Gucci finery. Pop, who is joined by his parrot Biggy Pop at the kitchen table with a pot of spaghetti, and at the lounge in the afternoon sunlight, appears mostly in his signature barefoot style. “A certain type of fun is also portrayed and the idea of how one’s obsession with appearances can create a kind of common ground that can become a sort of brotherhood,” Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele says about the new campaign. “It was beautif...
Michigan native Iggy Pop recruits soccer fans to support Detroit City FC in a new ad promoting the team’s crowdfunding equity campaign. “You’ve been saying ‘we’ for years,” the Stooges singer intones in the clip. “‘We are the pride of this city.’ ‘We don’t march to anyone’s drum but our own.’ ‘We are City ’til we die.’ Now it’s time to own up. There were some who also shared an impromptu performance. To kick off the series, which is available on New Museum’s website, Pop pays tribute to his dog. “You were such a good-looking little dog,” he said in the recording. “And the next thing I knew, there you were, standing by my truck, looking up at me. I picked you up, put you on my lap and thought about keeping you — and in less than a minute I was co...
