There’s no better time to become acquainted with Hydraulix than with his brand new EP, Exposure. The Australian bass music star sticks to his guns on his latest effort, a no-holds-barred, bass-fueled effort that’s meant to be played loud. From the outset of “Reese’s Puffs,” which kickstarts with the ominous grind of distorted bass and trembling keys, the project blasts off with a tone-setting rush of frenetic synths, barking vocals and pure adrenaline. Not one to take his foot off the gas, Hydraulix keeps up the action on the glitched-out “Roller Coaster,” a grungy trap tune that pairs bellowing vowel basses with gated effects to blitz the senses. His psychedelic sound design sensibilities are further felt on the EP’s clo...
Trap music fans, rejoice. After nearly a two-year hiatus, Rickyxsan is back in action alongside Hydraulix for a mind-bending single called “ZONED,” out now via the former’s newly minted Sonic Trip imprint. Much like their previous collaborations “Sleep,” “UNDRGRND,” and “Stoopid,” Rickyxsan and Hydraulix’s sounds perfectly mesh for a trap banger that longtime fans simply won’t be able to get enough of. The song’s eerie intro quickly finds its way to a drop without a traditional build-up, blindsiding listeners with blistering subs and screeching synths. It’s the return we’ve all craved from Rickyxsan, and the joint effort with Hydraulix only bolsters the quality. Take a listen below. Recommended Articles ...
After years of releasing some of the most heavily supported tracks among the DJ community, Australian trap music virtuoso Hydraulix has finally dropped the curtain on his debut album, the 20-track Imposter Syndrome LP. While largely rooted in the mind-bending bass spectrum of its label, Wakaan, the album enters pensive territory at times, dabbling in future bass and hip-hop. “GOAT” and “System Malfunction” are two undeniable Imposter Syndrome standouts in an album of many. The former, which features gritty bars f...
Fresh off his remix of Liquid Stranger’s “Psychonaut,” Hydraulix has dropped his second single for 2021. Teaming up with Latin Grammy Award-winning producer Nitti Gritti, the roaring “Waratah” has arrived on Wakaan. Hydraulix and Nitti Gritti mark their inaugural collaboration with a screaming, trappy new single that doesn’t shy away from experimentation. The wonky, metallic screeches resonate throughout the main sections, after a dreamlike buildup calls to mind a broken music box to build the energy. That dissonant sentiment is mirrored at the drop, with an enticing melody and plenty of reverb to go around. Strong attention to detail in the percussion steals the show, however, and as the track pushes on, it’s clear why Hydraulix and Nitti Gritti h...
