The House of Representatives committee on health care services has directed the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) to return N308 million in salaries wrongly paid to its members in the past four months. Chairman of the committee, Rep. Tanko Sununu said the N308 million had been with NARD and they are in touch with relevant organs of government to make sure that the money is paid back to government treasury. He however said, the monies were not refunded because the account into which the refund to be made was not given to them. He disclosed this after a closed-door meeting with NARD members on Friday. “At this meeting, we resolved and the account number was forwarded to the President of the Resident Doctors for onward transmission to the members so that the money can be paid ba...
Brooklyn-based indie dance duo Supertaste have released their newest single “Super Classic,” the first track off their forthcoming sophomore EP of the same name. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, the pair decided to head to a cabin in the woods and make music. They wasted no time, assembling a pop-up studio in their woodsy lodge in Bristol, Tennessee and getting to work. In the midst of the darkness inflicted by the virus, the tandem decided to focus their energies on creativity, seeking to build something positive in times of utter gloom. Flanked by a beautiful view of the South Holson Lake and the Cherokee National Forest, and with their loyal dog Wilson by their sides as well as an array of synths and guitars, Supertaste successfully wrote their EP in the mountains of Tennessee. ...

The Deputy Speaker, while answering questions from journalists, recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had signed an Executive Order to declare financial autonomy for LGs. While 2020 was a time of stagnation for many, DJ and producer AmyElle used it as the year she would make a name for herself on the house music circuit. She’s channeled this momentum into her second single of 2021, a fiery tech house anthem titled “Feel The Heat.” “Feel The Heat” features a combination of both modern and retro production stylings. AmyElle draws influence from 90s house anthems with the track’s infectious vocal hook but keeps the beat structure current with brawny bass stabs. It has all the workings to dominate at both the underground clubs as well as on the festival circuit, which looks to be on the mend as we approach the summer months. “Feel The Heat” is set to be one of the young gun’s biggest releases yet, earni...
Growing up in Bristol, Eli Brown was exposed to a proper underground dance music scene. These experiential days sparked an appreciation for music production, so much so that he decided to start a career of his own. Entranced by drum & bass, Brown began his music career under a different alias, creating songs in the genre for 15 years. Due to the frenetic nature of drum & bass, “There are limitations in what you can and cannot do,” Brown told EDM.com, which left him feeling uninspired. He ultimately decided to pivot and began experimenting with new sounds, discovering a love for house and techno. “With house and techno you can do more as there is less of a constraint within a tempo and genre,” he explained. Producing music in a new domain...
The Minority Caucus in the House of Representatives Tuesday described the approval of $1.5 billion for the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt refinery as a huge scam and a ploy by unscrupulous elements to siphon public funds. The Federal Executive Council (FEC) had recently at its virtual meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari approved $1.5 billion for the rehabilitation of the refinery. But, the caucus in a statement by its Leader, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, while rejecting the amount, said the figure is outrageous and heavily inflated, demanding an immediate review of the cost. The lawmakers noted that while they are in support of any genuine effort to bridge energy deficit in Nigeria, such should not be used as a ploy by corrupt individuals to fleece the nation. The caucus called...
It’s always a good day when deadmau5 shares new music. Today fans were treated to a new track called “Nextra,” which arrived by way of deadmau5’s new hau5trap imprint. His first release on the label, the single is a vintage, spine-chilling deep house cut. With a rolling four-on-the-floor house rhythm and quirky plucks, it’s reminiscent of his earlier work, à la 2010’s 4×4=12 album. Known for his penchant for challenging genre standards, deadmau5 does just that in the song’s break with a music unique production method. Here, he produces his typically spacey synths, but delays them in a warped cadence, making for a subtle yet forward-thinking technique that drives “Nextra” home. You can listen to “Nextra” b...

Senate faults PTF conversion to PSC, laments doctors strike
The Senate Committee on Health said on Thursday that the Presidency should have consulted the National Assembly before converting the the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to the Presidential Steering Committee. The panel also expressed surprise that the National Association of Resident Doctors embarked on strike despite the fact that their demands had been met by the Federal Government. Oloriegbe said, “I was listening to the radio yesterday (Wednesday) and I heard that the PTF (on COVID-19) has been converted to a steering committee. “We were not consulted in terms of what will be the operational mechanism and so on. “I am ...
