R.I.P. Marilyn Eastman, Night of Living Dead Actress Dead at 87

Marilyn Eastman, the actress best known for her role as Helen Cooper in Night of the Living Dead, has passed away. She died peacefully in her sleep in Tampa, Florida on Sunday night. She was 87 years old. Marilyn Eastman’s son, John Eastman, broke the news in a Facebook post, writing, “Marilyn was a Stage, Television and Radio performer as well as a writer and producer. More importantly, she was a hard working single mother who raised my brother and I on her own. I cannot overstate how much she enjoyed the affection and attention shown to her by countless NOLD fans, and up until several weeks ago, was planning personal appearances.” Born in Davenport, Iowa on December 17th, 1933, Eastman was driven in life by a need to explore and create. John Carpenter Announces Halloween Kills Soundtrack, Shares “Unkillable”: Stream

John Carpenter has announced the soundtrack for David Gordon Green’s Halloween Kills. It will arrive October 15th via Sacred Bones and accompany the film’s release in theaters. As a first preview, Carpenter has shared “Unkillable.” Spanning 20 tracks, the album is described in a press release as “unmistakably Carpenter.” It contains “sinister vintage synth tones,” but also features the Master of Horror drawing from a “broader sonic palette” while taking advantage of digital production tools. The Halloween Kills soundtrack will be available on CD, cassette, and vinyl. The standard LP comes in orange as well as a “charred pumpkin” black. Universal Buys New Exorcist Trilogy for $400 Million, Ellen Burstyn to Return

Blumhouse and David Gordon Green have spent the past year quietly working on a new movie in The Exorcist universe. Now, it’s been revealed that the two are planning to create a full-fledged trilogy — and Universal has just purchased the rights to it for a whopping $400 million. According to The New York Times, Universal Pictures and its streaming service Peacock “have closed a $400 million-plus megadeal to buy a new Exorcist trilogy.” Morgan Creek Entertainment had held the rights to The Exorcist franchise, and will remain involved as producers alongside Universal, Green, and Blumhouse’s Jason Blum. American Horror Stories Gets First Trailer: Watch

For the past decade, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have been the leaders of bringing horror to the small screen with their FX series, American Horror Story. With ten seasons and a fervent fan base under their belts, the shows has now expanded to the spinoff anthology series American Horror Stories. ICC swears in Karim Khan as new chief prosecutor

British lawyer Karim Asad Ahmad Khan has been sworn in as the new chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague. He will perform his duties “honourably, faithfully, impartially and conscientiously,’’ Khan promised before the judges in The Hague on Wednesday. The representatives of the court’s 123 state parties had elected Khan in February. The 51-year-old succeeds Fatou Bensouda, 60, who must step down after nine years under the court’s rules. Khan wants to significantly improve the performance of the prosecution. Proceedings must become more effective and trials before the court more successful, he said in a brief statement.
