If the investors in Jurassic Park never figured out that the dinosaurs always kill people, then the manufacturers of M3GAN can be just as entertainingly dense. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a sequel to the killer horror movie — aptly titled, M3GAN 2.0 — hit theaters on January 17th, 2025. M3GAN, aka the Model 3 Generative Android, romped its way to a $30 million box office in its opening weekend and has made nearly $100 million to date. Those are the kind of numbers that would be impressive for almost anyone except James Cameron, let alone a movie with a $12 million budget. M3GAN starred Allison Williams as the human protagonist, with a team of Amie Donald and Jenna Davis as the titular villain. It was directed by Gerard Johnston and boasted a script by Akela Coo...
She could be your child’s best friend… If it weren’t for all the murder. The new Universal-Blumhouse film M3GAN is the latest demented idea from Malignant writers Akela Cooper and James Wan, who rote the story of a sentient A.I.-powered android doing whatever she deems necessary to protect a young girl, with some help from her highly-advanced programming and mechanics — her calm kewpie face, fabulous fashion sense, and lethal skills making her both a threat to be feared as well as an instant horror icon. M3GAN is packed with solid jump scares as well as an affecting exploration of how technology affects modern parenting; as the first meme-worthy release of 2023, it’s certainly got people talking. But what is it that makes this a horror movie? Is M3GAN really all that bad? And how does it a...

The Evil Dead are coming back: New Line Cinema has today unveiled the official trailer for Evil Dead Rise, the new installment in the beloved horror franchise set to hit theaters on April 21st, 2023. Creator/original director Sam Raimi won’t be helming this movie, nor will Bruce Campbell reprise his role as Ash Williams; Irish filmmaker Lee Cronin directed and wrote Evil Dead Rise, with Raimi and Campbell instead working as executive producers. It’s unclear how the new film connects to the original trilogy, except for the presence of the fabled Necronomicon. Evil Dead Rise is centered around two estranged sisters, Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland) and Beth (Lily Sullivan), “whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for sur...
Before Jenna Ortega starred as the unflappable Wednesday Addams, she survived Ghostface in the Scream “requel.” She’s set to reprise her role as Tara Carpenter in Scream 6, and judging by the teaser trailer, moving to New York City wasn’t enough to start a fresh chapter. The slasher flick naturally takes place on Halloween, when Tara is on the subway with her friends and half-sister Sara (Melissa Barrera). As a Ghostface mask-wearing figure approaches, the lights go out, and so the action begins. Watch the full Scream 6 teaser trailer and see the movie poster below. Though Scream veteran Courteney Cox is returning as Gale Weathers for the latest installment, Neve Campbell won’t be appearing in Scream 6. Back in June, Campbell revealed that she received and turned d...
Mike Flanagan is adding yet another Stephen King adaptation to his repertoire: Deadline reports that the Doctor Sleep filmmaker is reuniting with his frequent collaborator, producer Trevor Macy, for a new adaptation of the horror novelist’s The Dark Tower series. Flanagan told Deadline that The Dark Tower — which amalgamates elements of classic horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and Western — has been his dream project for quite a while. He envisions the adaptation as a TV series to run for five seasons, followed by two standalone features; considering King has penned nine books in the franchise since 1982, the filmmakers have a lot of material to pull from. The Dark Tower has been brought to the screen twice before: Nikolaj Arcel directed a 2017 movie for Sony starring Idris Elb...
Bella Poarch’s “Dolls” alludes to revenge with lines like, “Think that you can play with me, you better watch your back,” making it the perfect soundtrack for the latest trailer for the Blumhouse horror film M3GAN. In the clip, the titular AI-powered doll breaks free from her programming and goes on a murdering spree. Like most robots in fiction, M3GAN (short for Model 3 Generative Android) was made with good intentions. A toy company roboticist named Gemma (Allison Williams) created the doll to be the ultimate companion for children and gives a prototype to her orphaned niece Cady (The Haunting of Hill House’s Violet McGraw) to be both a protector and a companion. It’s exactly M3GAN’s protective instincts that cause the doll to commit her first murder after a bully won’t leave Cady alone....
The official trailer for HBO’s The Last of Us has been revealed, and the looming threat from the first look and teaser has finally clicked into place with an expanded preview of the zombie apocalypse video game adaptation. The clip begins with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, as lead characters Joel and Ellie, traversing across country on a mission connected to the younger passenger’s apparent immunity to a devastating zombie virus. Over a cinematic spin on a-ha’s “Take On Me,” the pair confront an army of the infected, who appear throughout the trailer in varying stages of transformation into the monstrous “clickers,” and also stumble into chance encounters with more survivors, played by the likes of an armed-and-dangerous Nick Offerman, Storm Reid, Murray Bartlett, and more. Pascal an...

The full-length trailer for 1899 has officially docked online and the upcoming Netflix horror-mystery series, anchored by Dark creators Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, looks eerily terrifying. The clip goes full-steam ahead from the start as the European migrant ship Kerberos, traveling from London to New York at the turn of the 19th century, stumbles upon the Prometheus, a vessel long-assumed to have been lost at sea. Though the discoveries made by the ship’s scouting team as well as the source of subsequent, supernatural occurrences remain shrouded in secrecy, the trailer suggest the importance of a menacing triangular symbol that has some type of hold on Kerberos’ passengers. Amongst the preview’s cult-like gatherings, armed mutiny, and Jimi Hendrix’s cover of “All Along the Watch...
